Smooch believes in starting each day with a hearty breakfast

For the first nine years of her life, Smooch ate dry dog food only – one cup, twice a day.
Then along came her work-related stress disorder and she received special canned dog food
for a week until her stomach settled. Seeing how much she loved this new taste treat,
I couldn't possibly switch back to the dry-food-only regimen.
Breakfast will never be the same.

    1. I know, we don't hardly have no proof positive, right? I mean, maybe--polite as she is--Smooch just made believe 'cause she didn't want to hurt Carson's feelings! ;)

  2. Boy, do you have her full attention when you bring out the chow! I have a short "table" with cutouts that holds a water dish and a food dish. My dog doesn't have to bend down so far to eat (good for older dogs) and the dish doesn't scoot away.

  3. what a nice definition and video about pleasure! a Happy Smooch is a real treat! my cat is the same, he prefers humid food and I vapour-cook him his favourite veggies that I mix with this food. then he drinks also. altogether far better for his kidneys. he has a glass bowl with a high foot, so that he does not have to bend and the food does not touch metal nor plastic.

    1. The pack came back once but stayed far away from the house, and they ran off as soon as they saw me come out the door. Message received.

  7. Loved the "Are you sure there isn't more?" looks. Breakfast over and workday begins - Smooch on the job watching out the window.

  8. Such a happy dog. Love watching her enjoy her life and routine. Every time I see your window seat, I can't help but think of the little tower of smoke episode. Makes me giggle. Have a happy one Ms. L, Oma Linda

  10. Is there some reason you don't put her bowl on a tray or mat? I've got a hard plastic one with rims that would help that whole slidey-bowl issue. Unless that's part of the entertainment factor for you. I loved seeing Smooch in action afterwards; that little leap up on the bench shows what an incredibly athletic girl she is.

    1. I'm growing rather fond of the slidey-bowl sound, though after reading everyone's comments today, I'm thinking I should get her one of those raised tables.

  12. So cute, love the nice job she does dusting the floor with her tail! Nothing more appreciative than a hungry dog. Don't have any now but I remember feeding our shepherds, we added hot water to the chow and a big can of Purina, they loved that stew! Always smelled good to me too. Ditto on the raised bowl stands, according to vets its easier for their necks not to eat bent over. But the bowl sliding is cute too!

  13. Carson's videos: the next best thing to really being there. :-)
I have *never* seen Smooch spin with excitement like that for her food - what fun!
And I love her very serious return to her duties as ranch dog following her light-hearted meal.
