Tales from the dark side

I am back from the dark side and my three-day blogging hiatus, wherein I binge-watched 22 episodes of Breaking Bad
so that I would be properly caught up for Sunday night's final-season premiere.
For the record, I did not sit in front of the tv for 22 straight hours. But it was close.

The binge began very early Saturday morning. It was raining and gloomy and muddy outside. I interpreted that
as divine providence that my plan to stay inside and watch tv most of the weekend was the right thing to do.

I gathered in the living room with a few of my favorite things.
(As the hours passed, the favorite coffee mug would be replaced with the favorite wine glass.)
My laptop was at the ready so that I could read the recaps after watching each episode
to make sure I hadn't missed any nuances or misinterpreted any of the shockers.
Call me obsessed. It wouldn't be the first time.

Smooch and I did get up occasionally to stretch.

The sun came out mid-morning, but I would not be deterred.
Turns out that binge-watching a tv series like Breaking Bad is a good thing.
I'm not sure I would have picked up on some of the subtleties (Marie wears purple clothes in every stinkin' episode!)
had I watched it on a weekly basis like a normal person.
And besides, there's no way I could have waited a week to find out what happened after many of the episodes.
My eyes couldn't handle being stuck wide open in shock for that long.

By the time Sunday night rolled around, I was finally caught up with the plot.
I went outside to take a few pictures, remove fly masks, and take a deep breath
before settling back in to watch the first of the final eight episodes in the series.
It's going to be a very long week until next Sunday night, and I'm not sure how I'll be able to keep blogging.
My eyes are stuck wide open.

  1. I'm right there with you. I am sure my family is a little tired of me referring to them as "b#$%&es"

  3. Hadn't noticed Marie, but if I ever see Walt in anything other than green, my eyes will fall out.

  5. The purple thing gets even more intense as the shows go on... their whole house is nothing but purple. Skyler was mostly blue/cool colors, and I have to say I never noticed a color with Walt - will have to pay more attention. I love me a BB marathon, but man the dreams I have after a few hours of "Episodes" as my husband and I call them... makes me feel like I need to detox for a few days!

  6. OMG! I can't believe I'm so blind - I never noticed the green or the purple tendencies, but now, for sure, I will! I'm too intent on the oh-so-sincere lies that are told! I discovered it on Netflix streaming last year and watched 3-4 hours at a time until I was caught up just in time for the last season on TV. Sunday night the brief glimpse of the fast-forward scene in the beginning threw me for a loop. Walt with hair again? I also have a tough time watching Hank on BB then, on Monday night, watching him as "Big Jim" on Under the Dome.

  12. Not only does Marie wear purple, the whole house is done in purple. Does Walt get away with it. Lets take a bet for the next episodes. Can we guess if Walt does wind up in prison. Jesse what happens to him and Skylar oh and the kids.

    Best always,
