Los Pollos Hermanas

It didn't take long for the chicken sisters to figure out that with the rains came a new place to go drinking.

Clara: What's on tap?

If their butts weren't so big you'd be able to see that all four girls were lined up here at the bar.
I had to count the feet to make sure everybody was accounted for.

Eugenia spots another watering hole down the street...

...and makes a run for it before her sisters catch on and she's forced to share.

Eugenia: *slurp*

Eugenia: Much better than that crap that comes out of the well.

The chickens weren't the only ones enjoying the garden this fine morning.

Our resident hummingbird was drinking a purple Russian sage.

I warned her to avoid the carniverous thugs at the other end of the bar.

  2. Perfect shots of the birds. The hummingbird was lovely at the Russian Sage. My sage is starting to fade. No hummingbirds have made their way to my place. I'll have to put up a notice.

    Best always,

  7. Beautiful pictures. Your chickens always look so healthy and fluffy. Who knew that tarantulas and dead whatevers make the best chicken feed. I think you have the best hummingbird pictures I've ever seen. You could do a wonderful coffee table book of the 7MSN. Just picking a few out of the many would be a big task. Also loved the Johnny pictures. You're my first visit every day when I turn on my PC.

  10. Your hens are such a riot. They never fail to make me smile, unless they're devouring something, then I shudder. That's an outstanding hummingbird capture!

  13. Great shots of the hummer. I never knew they supped from the Russian Sage! We must have a ton of happy hummers around here - we have quite a bit of it in the yard.

  16. Heh heh heh, chooks are so funny. I had to giggle at the one of Eugenia running. I have two huge shiny black Australorps amongst my more normal-sized red laying hens. Their names are Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax, and when they run, fluffy bottoms swinging, I swear the ground shakes. They are seriously-hefty chickens but they have to be in on everything. Look out scrawny red hens! Chickensaurus is coming! Thump thump thump! :)
