Maybe I should start calling it the wind room

It's been windy here this week. No surprise – it's spring and the wind always blows across New Mexico this time of year.
But this year, the wind seems particularly windier.

I took these pictures earlier in the week, when the winds were blowing out of the south at a steady 20 miles per hour,
with gusts up to 43.8. I love that my weather station allows me to quantify my misery.

Funny thing is, the wind isn't making me all that miserable for a change.
Sure, going outside to do chores isn't very pleasant, but the wind provides the perfect excuse
to hang out in the sunroom wind room with Smooch and watch the world blow by.

We spend every evening out here. Picture me curled up on the left or right side of that daybed with my laptop on my lap,
writing a blog post for the next day. I face whichever direction the herd happens to be so I can watch them when I need inspiration.

When the wind stops blowing I'll stay outside until it gets dark,
but for now I'm content taking pictures through the window and talking to you.

  1. Well, it's raining cats and dogs here right now. The skies opened up just as I was about to go out to do AM chores. I hate to be late with breakfast, but I just cannot dodge the tigers and Great Danes falling from the sky at the present moment!
If I had a "rain" room....I would be sitting there warm and dry and watching, too!

    Have a great weekend!!

  6. What a fantastic space you have there! So beautiful & sunny - hence the name. We've been getting much the same type of wind here - 70 km., which I think translates into roughly 40 miles. It's almost enough to sweep me off my feet - delicate thing that I am. *grin*

  10. Watching that dust being blown around I don't blame you for hunkering down in your beautiful new room. Smooch looks very content - I guess she doesn't like the wind either, hu=hp[ ? (Gypsy came up to help me type!)

  11. Wow, did you plan that room for the sunsets!? Smooch, like most pets, knows the best seat in the house when she finds it. I hope there's room for two on that daybed!

  15. Right now, all the rooms in my house are Snow Rooms. We look out every window to see if maybe it has quit snowing yet, but no, it hasn't and the flakes are getting bigger. Maybe someday it will go away . . .but when?
