Where were you...

Years from now, I think we all might pause now and then to remember where we were and what we were doing on this election day.

Smooch wasn't all that impressed when Pennsylvania was called for Obama, but I was.

Snapper and Rosebud couldn't understand what all the fuss was about when Ohio was called for Obama.

I'll remember sitting on my couch, listening to our new president, and being a little less cynical and a little more hopeful about the years to come.

  1. Thanks for posting these photos, I have no idea why Australian media is taking so much interest in your government, I bet my winnings on the Melbourne cup yesterday that you didn't hear this much about our election a few months ago? Just goes to show we're still kissing your government's butt...no offence. So as I was saying, thanks for posting these, it's one thing to see everything in the media, but seeing these from your perspective is much different!

  2. I was at work. I knew the minute he was announced as the winner. Almost all my co-workers were screaming. It was weird.

  3. As a conservative, I can honestly say that I am less than thrilled. However, I do hope that you are correct and that he is a great man with a great plan and the ability to execute. I do hope you are correct and there really is a reason for hope.

  4. Less cynical? You bet. And won't it be fun to be proud of our government again, proud of our president again, and maybe separate Patriotic and Religious.
    I'm very hopeful.

  5. I was riding my new love, Goldie when the world changed. Although I'm a Canuck, I'm pleased to hear that Obama won...I know there are those who aren't. Nevertheless, as your friends to the north, we're often more affected by the political happenings in your country than we'd really like to be.

BTW...was Hank taking the photos? Well done, my multi-talented friend.

  6. I cried and cried. I let my kids stay up to watch his acceptance speech.
"Ding Dong, the Witch is Dead...!"

  7. Carolynn, look closely and you'll see a remote control in my hand. What will they think of next?

  8. Me too!! Hubby and I spent the evening in front of the tv and I too, felt somewhat emotional at hearing his acceptance speach. I found myself feeling less cynical and yes, even hopeful - which is something I've not felt in a long time where our government is concerned. Obviously, a lot of us folks are pinning our hopes on this man. He speaks intelligently, with authority and passion. And as Molly said, it will be very refreshing indeed, to keep our morals and our spirituality seperate from our government and our politics. That is after all what our great country is based on. Amen sisters!!

  9. I actually let go of some of my cynicism last night and felt a glimmer of hope trying to bubble up from deep inside somewhere. One can only hope in the next 11 weeks something drastic doesn't take place. I would be happy if they only stole the silverware on the way out. Seriously though, I know there are some bloggers that were for Mac the Maverick and Caribou Barbie, I'm only glad that for the next four years I don't have to worry so much about the country as I have been for the last 8 years. Great shots with the remote by the way.

  10. I am happy too, but I do feel sorry for all of the McCain supporters. It could have very easily have been us in their shoes, but thank goodness it wasn't!

Hopefully our country will move in the right direction and change for the better. :)

  11. Definitely more hopeful here. I got tired of watching CNN and turned to comedy central, so Jon Stewart told me Obama had been elected.

Hopeful, relieved, thankful. Many more emotions. Mostly YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. I feel like I can breathe again. Holding my breath for all these months was getting to be a bit stressful. There are so many amazing things that have happened in the last 24 hours, but I think the thing that makes me the most hopeful is the positive response from so many people in other places in the world.

  13. Linda, I'm glad you had a good night. He wasn't my choice, but he's now my President and I wish him well. We'll know before too long how well he can live up to the expectations he created and how well he can deal with other world leaders who will test him.

Hopefully, we can now all get back to our animals we all love and share.

    Regards,

    Dan

PS: To Grey Horse Matters - it was the Clintons and their staff who stole things from the White House and trashed equipment. I will be surprised if you see anything like that from Bush.

  14. Yay. I've had a smile in my heart for two days now.
Fun pictures you got there. I, too, want to know which of your critters came inside to snap those photos? Hmmm? ;-)

And, hey, did you happen to hear how I live in what's now been dubbed the "POWER CORRIDOR"? California, Oregon and Washington - resoundingly blue. We west coasters have been traditionally ignored in elections past, something about being three hours behind the east coast - but not this time! I'm just sayin'...

  15. Ha ha ha. I was doing and thinking the exact same thing on election day.... but it was with a raccoon and a possum.

  16. Linda, I was so relieved to see these photos of you and your dog watching the election returns. Somewhere else, in a comment on a blog, you mentioned that you and Smooch watched the returns together on the sofa. All I could think was OH, NO, THAT WOULDN'T BE THE PIG, WOULD IT? So glad that Smooch is the dog, although I have read a series of books that take place in Arkansas where the pig rides in the pickup and sits on the sofa, snacking and watching TV.

    Obamanos!

  17. Not to worry, Clair - Wynonna is strictly an outdoor pig.

  19. yeh.... along with anon. I don't see much changing.... except him. As do all politicians as soon as they manage to get to the address they have been coveting.....
