Good morning from the porcine princess

Wynonna was too busy grazing to look up and smile, but she bids you a good morning. Once she finishes her morning mowing, she will retire to her pigloo for a long nap. Mid-afternoon she'll wake up and take a refreshing bath, nap a little more, then pace the porch until dinner time. She'll gobble up her pig food (click here to watch her eat), then graze for a little while before she calls it a day. Life is so hard when you're a pig.

  2. Sounds like she has a pretty full day eating and napping. But you know a girl has to do what a girl has to do to keep her face and figure in shape. Just look at that face, too cute.

  3. I think I see Jesus in those wrinkles. No, wait. It's just her smiling.

  4. That sounds pretty appealing right about now. I was wondering, does Wynonna like cuddles?

  5. Wynonna is such a cute pig! I'm envious of her life. Oh if life were so simple!

(ps, I've been having trouble scrolling your blog. I think that photoshop animation might be slowing it down a little. Just though you'd want to know)

  6. Thanks, Lisa - I just dumped the animated photo. That Lyle...always causing trouble wherever he goes.

  7. What a face. Has she ever consider botox?

    Regards,

  9. Dear me - I hope Wynonna Judd doesn't follow this blog and get offended.

  11. Aw, good morning to YOU, Wynonna...you pretty girl, you. What part of a big black pot-bellied pig likes to be scratched? I know donkeys are fond of butt scratches and ear rubs...is the same true for pigs?
    :-)

  12. Carolyn, Wynonna is not a cuddler...by any stretch of the imagination. And she gets very vocal when strangers touch her, and not in a good way.

But pot-bellied pigs do have one very interesting peculiarity when it comes to favorite scratching places. (You're gonna love this one farmgirl_dk.) When they're standing, and you start scratching their belly, they love it SO much that they fall right over onto their sides like somebody shot them, and would lay there all day while you kept scratching. I think the falling over part is just physics – they have no graceful way to lay down.

Maybelline, I had a name all picked out for this piglet before I brought her home. But when I picked her up, she convinced me otherwise.

When I got her, she was a mere 8 weeks old and very small. I filled a big muck bucket with straw and gently placed her in that for the ride home. The muck bucket was in the rear of my Jeep Cherokee, and the back seat was folded down. Just as I was getting onto the interstate, she jumped out of the bucket and and into the front passenger seat, where she curled up. I about had a wreck watching this unfold. Anyway, a Wynonna Judd song was playing on the radio at the time, and as I looked over and watched her, I knew it was the perfect name. Had it not been for that song, her name would have been Oprah.

  13. Wynonna is a fine pig. Sounds very much like my Daphne and Fiona. Did you ever think you could love a pig so much?
Mine are not cuddlers either. They flop when we scratch and really don't like strangers. You never know when someone might want to eat you!
Since we got them already grown it took them a long time to trust us. But I have to say I love my pigs.

  14. Bwahahaah! Linda, you totally had me laughing right out loud imagining her name as Oprah. Oh man, that is so bad!

Wynonna just fits her. It's such a pretty name. I think a pig, which tends to be 'beauty-challenged' deserves to have a pretty name. They need all the help they can get. hehe

She sure is cute, though. I can't wait to meet her up close one day :)
