Happy hour with the still-feral beast

  1. What makes 'em do that? Even my never-feral beasts have chomped me occasionally. The mood strikes and so do they, lol. It always hurts my feelings, though I know it's not personal, at least sort-of not.

  2. I hate when that happens! Kneady one minute, crazed killer the next.

  3. Most cats dont like to be touched at the tail and have it constricted. He reacted only to that telling you not to do it again. I hope your hand is ok. Mine will do the same. And sometimes if they have a pain in the body (muscle or digestion...) they will bite if you touch that place. that is not feral! with a feral beast your hand would be seriouly damaged

  4. I was thinking, "poor JCC, why doesn't she pet him a bit more?" Clearly, I've never had a cat. Aunt Jean

  5. Awww ... look at poor Smooch missing the Happy Hour. ;) I notice that when JCC looks Smooch right in the eye she has to look away - Smooch I mean. JCC rules the roost!

  6. I was wondering what he ever did to be labeled feral......and then he showed me. My neighbor's cat will just run up and bite her for no apparent reason. The vet told her it's a sign of affection. I don't know if I buy that.

  7. I hope that was just a JCC nip and nothing more. Even laid back inside cats will take a quick nip every now and again! They let you pet and pat only when they want it, not when you think they need it! However, my Maine Coon cat, Feather, never ever pulled a nip the hand that feeds me trick. Hugs from CO -- Marcia

  9. Don't you hate it when they want to dip a tail in the wine glass? JCC just likes to remind you that he is a cat. Must be some lemur in there somewhere with that glorious tail. Light quality could not suit him any better. Like being bathed in butterscotch. Smooch may look deprived, but we know she is reminding him that she sleeps in the house thank you very much. Happy weekend to you at the 7MSN.

  10. Our newest cat Chandler will let me love him but only when and how he wants it. Cats are brats, but I love um. JCC is such a cat.

  11. OMG. I have to apologize first....I laughed so hard, everyone heard me in the government cubicle. I laugh, because I have been there done that with a couple of my feral cats. One of them likes to herd me and bite me on my feet if I am not readily available with food. I have to go watch this again! Have a wonderful weekend!

  12. Ouch. I yelled out loud when it happened. But in his defense he did warn you on the pet before. My Buster Brown does that too. Still surprises me but its usually when I am petting without paying attention to what I am doing....

  13. If you don't let me put my behind in your wine, then I shall make pointy biscuits on your knees.

  14. Me again, with my two cents worth. I had a fabulous cat for 17 years who was born in my daughter's bed and never had a feral moment, but she loved being rubbed so much that we had to watch for THAT moment because she'd get so happy that she'd suddenly go crazy and chomp down on whatever was close. There were, in those 17 years, some bad bites including one that put my daughter on IV antibiotics. I don't think Johnny was doing anything except being so in-the-zone that he went a little nuts. If that's true he too was probably a little stunned that it happened but that doesn't make the bite any less dangerous. Cats have really dirty mouths. Keep an eye on that wound if it was deep.

    1. Not to worry...the bite didn't even draw blood, though you'd never know that by the volume of my scream.

  15. Cat attack!! Our Sophie cat does so on a semi-regular basis!

  16. Even our indoors cat, Abby, does that once in a while. She also loves to jump up on our laps when we are....well...on the potty, and then she digs her claws into our thighs as she scampers off! Oh, and my Junior (feral cat) now "allows" me to pet him. He hasn't bitten me yet, however!

  17. My ginger boy doesn't ever do that, but i think he is rather a rare gentle fellow for a cat. I generally have a cat but I'm a dog person, no doubt about it. Cat people are more forgiving than me! I once had a cat who came up and smoothed his face on my head while i was lying down sunbaking, then lay down and kicked the crap out of my head with his back legs and held on with his front claws. Rotter!

Smooch is saying, "Mama, I'd never do that to you! You should have happy hour with me!"
