It's all fun and games until the watermelon runs out

It's been three months since we last had company at the ranch.
It's also been three months since I last dusted the furniture.
I need to have company more often.

Anyway, that all changed on Saturday when long-time blog reader
and fellow blogger Steph and her family came to visit.

Reading about how George backs up for butt scratches is one thing;
getting backed into is another, as Steph will attest.
She and George made some sort of deal.
He would hold her phone as long as she would keep scratching.
Good thing cell service is pretty much nonexistent out here.
I'm not sure what would have happened if it rang or vibrated.

Meanwhile, Hank fell head over hooves in love with Steph's husband, Todd.

Hank has never been this demonstrative with anyone except Justina.

Hank: Scratch me behind my ears and I will be your best friend.

Todd and Hank, BFFs.

One guess as to what's about to happen here:
Lucy: Feed me watermelon and I will be your best friend.

Lucy: Works every time.

My animals are shameless.

This is what happens when the watermelon runs out.

Despite the herd's embarassingly shameless behavior,
a grand time was had by all and my house is clean. Win win!

  1. Those photos of Hank smoozing up to Todd are really precious. I've never seen a horse do that before. How come Todd didn't use both hands???

  4. It's as if Hank wanted a big hug...so sweet. Love the look on Hank's face.
I like how Lucy's ears disappear when she sees the watermelon, she thinks maybe if I look small I'll get more!

  9. Oh Hank. Oh my goodness, Hank!! My heartstrings...!
I remember Hank's love for Justina - must have watched that video 400 times back then, so cute and sweet and hilarious. (I can't even put into words how much I miss the Morning Brays being nearby the 7MSNers...)

    1. That's true, Irmgard. The friendship is still there, but we miss the play dates!
