You told me so

Today marks two years since the feral beast joined the family.

I solemnly vowed back then that I would not get attached to him under any circumstances...

...because he was a working cat with a job...

...and he was not supposed to be friendly...

...and he was not supposed to like people.

He was supposed to be a barn cat.

 And he is.

But he's also very friendly, and he loves people, and you all were absolutely right
when you said I would get attached to him.

 You: I told you so!

Me: Now climb down here so I give you a great big hug.

  1. I love how he doesn't want to stray far from you...he prob said the same thing..." I will not get attached to her!" :-)

    1. Now that's a thought! But, like Carson, in the end (like, after ten minutes?) JohnnyCC had to submit to the "force majeure" of whole-hearted affection... :)

  2. Eveen if he didn't like people or donkeys, wasn't affectionate, kept to the perimeters of the barn and house during the day, you would still have loved him for being his Catness and so photogenic!

  5. Of course you know that cats plan it this way. They try their darnedest to worm their way into our hearts by acting all cuddly and adorable. But in reality it is all a plot....a plot to make us more loyal servants!!

  6. Good lord, my heart skipped a beat! My first thought when I saw your title and first photo was that he was gone. Huge sigh of relief and happy post. Has it already been 2 years??

    1. I say, Johnny knows it's a jungle out there, and he is way too alert at all times, and cautious, to be "gone"; no sound escapes him... he will put in another, ohhh, 16, 17 feral years at The 7MSN Ranch, yes he will! ;)

We all knew you were delusional when you said you would not get attached, after all who knows you better than your readers? :) We too are owned by an orange cat who came here as a stray and has moved right in and now bosses the dog around as well as us! BTW, there are a lot of contrails in your skies, does that go on all day, every day?

    1. There sure were a lot of contrails when I took these Sunday morning. Sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't. Maybe it depends on where the sun is at the time? The planes are too high up to hear them.

  11. Gulp. I got death on my mind these days. Your title came up "You told me so" and while the rest of the page was slow to load, I thought "Oh my god! Something's happened to Johnny and she's devastated!" Then I read your post in a hurry and breathed a sigh of relief. Don't you scare me like that!
He has a really interesting tail doesn't he?

  13. Happy Birthday Johnny! He is such a lucky cat to be adopted by you. When I've rescued my animals and I don't know their b-day, I just celebrate it on the day I got them.

  20. Yeah, I'm with Carla, cathie and Laura -- has it really been two years? It seems like you just brought him home. So...enquiring minds want to know...is he a good mouser?

  27. I'm still working on trying to tame our two little feral cats. They really don't like people AT ALL. However, yesterday morning, I caught the little tabby one playing with the dog's tail, which was sticking through their enclosure. Time...time will tell!
