Remedial trailer loading

When Hank, Lucy and I returned from the vet on Friday, I parked the trailer next to the corral
in preparation for the next trip with George and Alan. They haven't been in the trailer for two years,
and I wanted to find out sooner than later if they are going to be willing to load.

They stood at the gate, waiting with great anticipation for what usually happens
when there's a trailer parked in that spot.

George: It doesn't sound like Bernard and Ellsworth and Patrick are in there.

You don't want to know how long they stood there
watching and waiting for their friends to pop out of the box.

When they came back to the barn the next morning, they went straight for the trailer.
It was as good a time as any to see how much re-training they might need
before their trip to the vet in a few weeks.

  1. Yeah, it will always feel Just Not Right that the Mourningbrays have moved far away.
However, these two are READY for their next adventure! Thanks for the wonderful video, such great fun!

  2. Great that you are getting organized for the trip to the vet's office. They seem to be okay with loading. I always say wait til the day of departure. for proof. You never know with animals.! They can change their minds just because. Do you put any treats inside just in case. Good luck. I'm sure all will go well. BA SP

  3. Hurray! Another video peek at life at the MSN Ranch. I love how George tosses his head at Smooch! And Alan's little jump and head rest on his buddy George's back. I have to admit that when you mentioned the Morning Bray Farm crew even my heart skipped a little beat! I miss their crew and their regular blog posts too. Looks like you're going to need to keep a look out for another play date for the boys! ;)

  5. I think you could fit at least two more donkeys in there for your vet trips. Those first two photos look like a plot is being hatched.

  6. Po critters....waiting on their very special friends. I bet they always will.
So cute how it's pecking order for all they do. George, then Alan. Looks like you'll have no problems loading them, but I bet they'll think they are going somewhere else to play with those friends and not to the vets office.
Thanks for a really sweet look at Da Boyz and Ms. Smooch. Oma Linda

  7. They remember how it is done perfectly. Won't be wearing muzzles for the road though :) You know they miss their buddies, but have each other to play with every day. Smooch managed to get in on the video too.

  10. I love how you "thanked" the boys for doing what you asked them to do. I am constantly thanking my pooch for doing the things I've trained her to do and often think I sound pretty silly for doing so. Hearing you do it, though, I don't think it sounds silly at all.

  11. Oh lord, that "squoze" my heart seeing George and Alan wait for their buddies to jump out of the trailer. Sigh.
What good boys, though...jumping right in to investigate. I think your vet trip is going to be easy-peasy!

Good for you, planning ahead like that. It doesn't sound like you have mats in the trailer, is there a reason for that? We use mats to keep the animals from slipping on the metal, plus it is less noisy and cushions the ride a bit.
