Alan sings for his supper

This does not go on before every meal, though I wouldn't mind if it did. Braying is my favorite music.
Yesterday, Alan just felt like singing, and the chorus was long enough for me to reach for the camera.

  2. I love it, and your captions. Used to live near some donkeys and loved it when they got vocal. Sweet music!

  4. Quite the "Get me Lunch Tune". Interesting how the others just watch on. His best friend
tries to console him. Great vid!

  8. Me again. Interesting factoid for your herd dynamics journal.---the donkeys never brayed once while you were gone last fall, at least not while I was there. Me thinks they like you a little bit.

  9. LOL I love it! My little guy can get pretty loud when he breaks into song too. I just worry when he decides to do it at 4am...some of my neighbors might not appreciate his early morning singing.

  10. Excellent video. I have never heard a donkey bray before. What does it mean? I can interpret my cat's meowing, or my dog's barking, but what does it mean when a donkey who doesn't appear to be in distress brays?

Linda, you should be ashamed of yourself for not being on time to feed Alan and the gang. He looks like he is wasting away from not being fed. LOL I love listening to the brays of donkeys.

  13. That is so cute! Wanted to wish your herd and you a Happy Easter, but I was traveling and couldn't get my iPad to successfully send a comment your way. Love your blog and read it every day even if I don't respond to all post. :)

  14. That made me laugh and of course I had to watch/listen to it several times! It will keep me giggling randomly to myself most of the day.

  15. I like it too. Some of our sheep have unusual maaas as deep and throaty. I can see where if someone had donkeys it would be good to not have neighbors less fond of the sound of animals. Our cows, right after they have had a calf, can tend to get pretty loud if baby isn't right where they want. but they don't have the range of sound that Alan has :)

  16. I just want you to know, when I clicked on the play button and Alan started doing his thing, my 1 yr old Lab puppy immediately dropped what he was doing (he was busy biting his favorite toy, a rubber pig that grunts and squeals loudly when he bites it, sorry Wynnona) and trotted over here to see what in the heck that noise was. He even tilted his head sideways that cute way dogs do. So you can go on out there and tell Alan he has a canine fan.

I love it! Somehow I always thought Alan was the quiet one, but he must have been in a complaining mood yesterday for sure! Ha ha!
I love how George goes over to him at the end to comfort his hunger! Ha ha!

  21. I think George asks Alan in a snarky voice, And Who Do you think is Useless!

  22. That is some pretty powerful music. But I must say it was entertaining!!!!!! Don't worry, I have been used to it. On our Horse and Dairy farm ..we had donkeys and they would love to give a rendition of something snappy almost every day!!!!!
