A break from the sunshine

While the midwest and east have been getting pounded with too many storms to count,
it's been dry in New Mexico since the end of December...until yesterday.

Me: Where's everybody going? I need to take pictures.
Them: Hank's making a snow angel. You'd better get over here.

Me: Please be careful...please be careful...please be careful.

Hank: I love snow...I love snow...I love snow.

Hank: I've got this. You worry too much.

Hank's happy place is in the snow.

Lucy's, Alan's and George's is not.

Me: Don't give me that look. Nobody's forcing you to stand out here.
And about that goatee...it doesn't become you.

Alan: I look like a powdered donut, don't I?
Me: Yes, a very sweet one with chocolate on your nose.

George: nom nom nom nom nom

  1. Ooh some flakes... Pretty. Hank is like a little (big) kid, love his antics. Tell Lucy and the boys, snow is better than flies!
( I woke up to some pretty flakes on top of our 12 inches from yesterday...I hate that word pretty)

  8. Great photos, especially of Hank getting down to make his snow angel.
Question: How do you keep snow off your lens?

    1. I drape an extra big wildrag around my neck and keep the camera covered when it's not in use, and I also have a pretty big lens hood, and I try to keep my back to the wind.

  9. Word is that it is pretty crunchy out there this morning. Will venture out later in the day when it gets warmed up to 24 or so. Birds will appreciate refills. Saw a squirrel out scampering too.

  11. I didn't know that donkeys liked to catch snowflakes, too! Hank is welcome to snow slide with Fat Neck. He gets a push or two and down he slides. There is a big body print slide mark and a few claw marks on one side as he keeps himself going. Ah, to be an animal. The brown sheep just look like shrubs. There is a huge snow cap on each of them. They have nibble marks where they eat the snow of of each other.

  13. From the weather reports, looks like you might get more today and tomorrow. Cuckettes are on a delayed schedule today and the snow and ice is a little tricky in the Metro. These are the days when I wish I could just stay at home. And if I had the scenery that you do I probably would. Love the photos this morning. Handsome Hank and his snow angel and the burros. Thanks for a great morning start.

  21. You've given me the new winter mantra - Please be careful, please be careful, please be careful! It's not the snow, it's the ice that makes me so nervous. Would you like some of our snow? It's up over my knees and we had to plow a "runway" in the pasture for the girls. Hurry, Spring, hurry!
