After the rain

Rain on the ranch isn't frontpage news anymore, but the aftermath is always an opportunity to take pictures.

Here is Alan by the pond...

...and Smooch by the path...

...and the view while we were waiting for the rainbow that didn't happen.

  9. Beautiful photos! Love Alan's reflection in the water. We need more rain here and hope the monsoon will bring us more over the next few days.

  10. The difference in the landscape is phenomenal. As I've checked in each day to see what's going on with you and your herd, I'm amazed at the beauty of your desert. You've mentioned before about your well water being less than ideal. Has it improved with the monsoon? I don't know how much of the rain actually makes it to well depth, how long it would take for that to happen, or even if rain falling somewhere else is what works its way into your ground water over time. Having lived in San Antonio, where drought and aquifer recharge are big issues, I can't help but wonder about your part of the desert. I hope this summer's rains have helped more than the meets the eye.
