One small victory for burros

Late Tuesday night, I saw a message from a facebook friend about a donkey roping scheduled for tomorrow in Texas. Here we go again, I thought. I went to bed that night agonizing and strategizing and contemplating. And I didn't get much sleep.

Wednesday, I checked the facebook page of the guy who was putting on the roping.
His status said "BURROW ROPING IS CANCELLED." No explanation was given.

Thursday, I checked the guy's facebook page again.
He had announced another roping for Saturday.
One of his friends commented:
Thought it was cancelled??
To which he replied:
Just the burrow roping. It is against the law to rope burrows. lol who knew

A string of comments followed, referencing what happened in Van Horn and the bunny huggers who staged a protest and how "gettin choked n stretched a few times wouldn't have hurt 'm."

Be that as it may. My point is, one more donkey roping has been cancelled because of the ruckus raised a couple of months ago, and that's a very good thing.

Hey, we did a good thing with our protest!! At least someone got the message. Although I read somewhere at an Oregon rodeo, the participants were doing cruel things to horses by using a cattle prod and roping them which was horse tripping. Apparently it's not illegal in Oregon to horse trip.

  10. Better a Bunny Hugger than an Animal Torturing Moron

  11. Maybe those tools should get choked and stretched a few times themselves before saying that another animal would be alright having it done.

  12. Great news. To those who commented that we are bunny huggers and the rest of stuff, they will just never understand. It's really too bad.

  22. This is good news if it's really about burros.
If it's about roping burrows, I have to wonder how one actually does rope a "a hole or excavation in the ground made by an animal (as a rabbit) for shelter and habitation."
