All that's missing is Humphrey Bogart

I stumbled upon this photo in a folder I was archiving yesterday. I love it.
How did I not notice it before?

And because I can never leave well enough alone, I processed it in black and white.

Now I love it even more. There's drama and mystery,
sort of like Humphrey Bogart might enter the scene at any moment
looking for the treasure of the Sierra Madre.

What say you? Which version do you prefer?

  1. It's the light that makes the B&W special. Must be unique to New Mexico.

  2. The details seem sharper in the B/W.

  6. Not only do I like the color version, THIS IS IT! This is the picture I choose from winning the drawing!
The reason I like the color version better is that your landscape looks so similar to that in Patagonia AZ where my brother lives. By wanting the picture in color I can think of you and of my beloved brother at the same time.
    Eureka! THANK YOU!

  7. I like the BW version. But...I was thinking more Three Stooges than Bogart! Love your blog, by the way. I read it EVERY morning.

  8. I agree with the Bogart timeless feeling of the black and white picture but the colors are so pretty. Wonder if the paint store could match the color of the grass. Love the three of them together. So cute!

  9. I was thinking the Three Stooges also. Love the color version - love the way it shows off the colors around you. Though any picture of your gang I love.

  10. I normally prefer your fabulous color photos, for all the reasons mentioned by the color lovers above. But in this case, the B&W does it best for me. The 3 kids def. look like a posse, or equine prospectors, and that's a wrap!!!

  13. Color. But it is very unusual for me to like B&W. The color adds to the story, for me.

You have to go on u-tube and watch pimp my horse. What a great spoof.
