Saturday encore ~ An important piece of paper

I posted this originally in November 2008 to commemorate the "official" adoption of George and Alan. I had just received the documents to prove that they belonged to me. Today while you're reading this, I'm in town getting the proof that I belong to them. I'll try to be brave, keep my eyes open, and take pictures to show you next week.

When you adopt a mustang or burro from the BLM, the adoption isn't official for a year. You have to fill out more paperwork and then get a vet to vouch that they're in good health and that you're taking proper care of them. Geez, all the BLM had to do was read this blog and they would have known that. Be that as it may, George and Alan's adoption is now official and I have the papers to prove it.

Before they were George and Alan, they were 0087 and 0734. They wore these tags on a piece of twine around their neck at the BLM holding facility. Now the tags are in an honored spot on a shelf in my living room.

Hey, guys! Come over here. I have something really important to tell you.

I think this calls for a group hug, don't you?

I'd rather have my butt scratched.

  1. I remember that post and it was so neat to read it over again! The boys are SO lucky to have found 7MSN as their home.

Question: when you went to adopt a burro, did you go for one and come home with two like Justina?

I'm anxious for the post(s) and pictures of the tattoo process AND where they are.

  2. And that's what you call a Happy Ending. Or Happy Tails ...

The boys never had it so good. You look pretty happy too, Linda!

Now tell Smooch to stop eating those nasty ants! Yikes!

  3. This actually brought tears to my eyes. The gleam in your eyes should have been enough for the to hand over the keys to these guys and let you drive off into the sunset together.

  4. Yay! The Burro's officially have one of the best homes in the world (Morning Bray Farm is also the best burro home in the world) :) Hope the freeze branding tattoo goes well, looking forward to the photos!

  5. I'm not much for needles...good luck with that and can't wait to see the finished product (unless of course it's where the sun don't shine!).

  6. George & Alan have the 'bestest' loving home, 7MSN, and I know they love you, too. What a threesome!

Ouch on the tatoo...I wouldn't be brave enough to do that though. Pat on the back to you! I'm looking forward to the spot you chose to put it!

  9. I hear that the luckiest burros in the world are in New Mexico.

I think we'll play those numbers in the lottery. :)

Given your ranching adventures, I suspect the tattoos will be easy peezy (I'll be hiding under my covers until the hollering is done).

  10. If I were closer, I'd go for another tattoo with you. Don't chicken out.

  12. It seems so odd to have "title" to a living being. But whatever it takes!

I like your parallels of belonging. Hope the tattooing is going well!
