The difference between pampered and spoiled

There's a fine line between a pampered dog and a spoiled dog.

I prefer to think of Smooch as pampered. Being in charge of ranch security is a high-pressure job, and she deserves a few creature comforts.

She's a little worried that one of the cats might try to steal the new bed she got for Christmas, so she's keeping an eye out.

Don't worry, Smooch. They can clearly see it belongs to you.

  1. Those are the cutest pictures of 'pampered' Smooch with her one eye opened, and the personalized bed is awesome!

  2. Pretty girl. She better watch out for those cats. Mine would be all over that wonder bed 2 seconds after she left. I believe it's called "you snooze, you lose". Or maybe it's "you don't snooze, you lose".

  4. She just can't get away from being a guard dog - she's got your back Carson! I bot one for my dog and the cat has already taken it from him. Good thing Deets is an outside cat! Have a good day.

  6. Goodness, she'll have to stay there all day to ward off squatters. :)

  7. Ooooh, that bed sure does look comfy. No wonder she doesn't want to share with the cats.

  8. She looks very comfy. We have one for our Gus and once a day I have to "fluff" it up for him. He does some really hard sleeping in it but no poachers around...... Your photos are great!

  11. What a sweet girl she is. And, definitely pampered with that cozy new bed! She's right to protect it from interlopers. Although, it might be nice to share it with another warm, cuddly buddy.

  12. Now...I'm wondering. If cats are so smart already, have they gone to school somewhere to learn to read? Or are they born with the talent to read "Smooch" on the dog bed? Besides the bed is on the FLOOR...not a place an educated cat would nap, huh?

  13. It's tough living with cats isn't it Smooch? They all think they own the world. Everything belongs to them. I suggest you put your bed away every time your done with it. Otherwise you may find hairballs in it when you return!

  16. Love the one eye open shot. She isn't messing around with losing that bed! I wouldn't either - it looks pretty comfy.

  17. That is so funny because our motto for our sweet yellow Lab Nell has always been "She's pampered...not spoiled!" Of course, she's spoiled rotten. Sweet dreams, Smooch!

  18. LOL - lucky Smooch! It doesn't matter around here, Maggie (gray cat) will grab the nearest available dog bed, but since Toby (Aussie-mix) has more than 1, he can move on to the next one.
