Smooch has a new best friend

My friend Kim is a baker extraordinaire, so for the last umpteen Christmases and Easters, she has been in charge of bringing dessert. Today she combined a made-from-scratch chocolate cake with an activity to keep the kids busy. She brought a cake, an apron, and decorating tools for each little girl, and the dining room was turned into a confectionery.

And poor pitiful Smooch was left outside to watch.

Smooch isn't used to being around kids. Heck, she's not used to being around people! But I couldn't stand it any longer, so I brought her inside on her leash. She jumped up on her chair, and Ruby jumped right next to her. So far so good.

There was an immediate connection. Everything Smooch did, Ruby did.

Well, not quite everything, thankfully.

The day was filled with good friends, good food, and lots of fun.
And Smooch has a new best friend.

  5. That is really cute! Sometimes dogs just latch onto kids. Something about children can either scare them....or be very relatable (kids can be loud, but low stress, maybe that is why?) Smooch is such a unique and cool looking dog, very expressive!

  11. That last photo of Ruby and Smooch had me crying! Friends and family (especially sisters) are the best fun on Easter. Can't wait 'til June and re-making friends with the entire herd.

  14. Awww, how sweet is that? Ruby isn't much bigger than Smooch, either. Nothin' like puppy love. Excellent project for the girls, too. I'll bet they had fun with that.

BTW, I have a little something over at my place for you.

  17. Awwww...just look at Smooch and her new BFF...lol!!! Smooch appears to be doing just fine, but I know what you mean about being cautious with her around kidlets.
Kidlets have a tendency to move "too fast" for pets that aren't used to them. Sometimes I wonder how I can keep up???
