Priceless

I've entered my share of blog contests, hoping to win any number of cool things that were being given away. But never have I wanted to win something as badly as the precious gift that Miss Mikey was offering in her contest. I'm being serious here.

Sadly, I did not guess which two squares on the Walmart Bingo card applied to our favorite fearless farrier, The Horseshoeing Housewife. However, one of the winners of the contest, Shirley, bequeathed her prize to me when she read how much I wanted to win it. Shirley, I am eternally grateful. And I'm still being serious here.

The prize arrived with the most delightful, glittery note. Smooch was enchanted by the scents it carried.

And I was, and still am, positively in awe of the prize...

...a genuine, honest-to-goodness, rattlesnake hide, tanned by none other that Miss Mikey herself! Now how many women do you know who can do that? She even posted pictures of the process so that we all might learn to do this ourselves should the opportunity arise.

I am going to turn this gorgeous hide into THE coolest hat band on the planet. Thank you, Miss Mikey. You are a woman of extraordinary talents.

  11. Oh, we've had a rattlesnake or 2 at our place (on the porch!)...but we didn't save him to skin after we "relocated" him (to his maker). I'm pretty creeped out by them!
