Let the games begin

George and Alan were very disappointed to learn that Burro Wrestling will not be recognized as an official sport in the Beijing Summer Olympics. Undeterred, they continue to train.

Every workout begins with a brief warm-up.

Then they take turns sparring, until one makes the first move.

George makes the first leap...

Then they both raise up on their hind legs and hop around like kangaroos.

It's back down to the ground for an exchange of very fierce and evil looks.

We're just playin', Mom. We'd never hurt each other...promise!

  1. Great pictures. They do look like they are having fun and as long as no one gets hurt, well...
Stop by and pick up an award when you get the chance.

  3. Great pics! A friend of mine has 4 mini donkeys, one mammoth and a mule. The long-eared ones are such characters. Someday, I'm going to get one here. I just hope my neighbors don't mind the braying!

P.S. I rode this morning, how 'bout you?

  4. Hey, Ann. Thanks for nagging...I love it! Lyle has been ouchy since his recent trim, so he's got his boots on for awhile and I won't ride him til he's 100%. Keeping his feet sound is a challenge, which makes our riding schedule impossibly inconsistent. But once he's sound again, it will be full speed ahead. Good for you for getting all your rides in!

  5. Don't they just look like two ornery little kids on the playground? I love the photos. Great job capturing the fun as usual.

  7. This reminds me of our pony and Cody, the QH. Rafer Johnson tries, but he is so much smaller this type of play doesn't quite work.

    Alan and George are sweethearts.

  8. Oh, sorry about Lyle's ouchy feet. :-( Yes, no riding until he's feeling better.
