Homeland Security

Whether it's watching for rain...

Watching for rabbits...

Or watching for snakes...

....when Smooch is outside, she is on patrol. Nothing gets past this pooch. Her job is to alert me to trespassers and then bark herself silly until I come out to investigate. She has deputized Deets, and together they are keeping the barnyard safe from all predators, real or imagined.

  2. Smooch is so regal looking! And Deets reminds me of our cowboy cat, Dickens Edward Wickens, whose theme song is "Desperado."

And Wynnona - she is the sleeping beauty!

  3. Smooch is pretty and anyone can see a great watchdog, who has trained a watch cat but who has trained Wynona the watch pig. Look at that face. How cute is she.

  6. No wonder you feel safe living there on 7MSN. They've all got your back!

Well, except for Wynonna...what is her job, exactly?

    hehehe

  7. Ell, near as I can figure, Smooch comes from a long line of distinguished New Mexico mutts. She runs like a greyhound, is obsessed with rabbits, digs whenever she smells a rodent in the ground, and barks at strangers but is petrified of them. I'm tempted to have one of those new doggie DNA breed tests done just to satisfy my curiosity.

Arlene, you might be the only other person besides me who thinks Wynonna is cute.

Twinville, Wynonna has two very important jobs: keeping me laughing and serving as a conversation piece during ranch social gatherings.

  8. You can tell that Smooch knows she's good at her job. I love the photo of Deets and Wynonna. I'm so tired right now that I'd like to sack out like your piggy.

  9. Smooch is too cute, and my family and I all think that Wynona is cute as well :) Smooch definitely looks like she is all business in the photos that you took. Smoots looks like he is on guard too, and Wynona, well she just looks like a pot bellied pig...hee hee hee.

  10. Oops...I accidentally called Deets "Smoots." Thats what you get when you combine "Smooch" and "Deets," and you are really tired from chasing kids around in the heat all day!

    My humblest apologies ;)

  11. Not to worry, Knutsons. Smooch has been called much worse. I'm still trying to capture a video of Wynonna taking a bath. I promise your kids will never stop laughing once they see it.

  13. Smoots is a very distinguished looking dog. I like the ones that are a mix of many breeds. They have good minds.
