Alex in motion

Alex's foster mom sent me this video yesterday and reports that
she now weighs 10 pounds, 1 ounce and has a great, funny personality,
which probably will be obvious when you watch it.
(Alex is the black/white pup. Her sister is the brindle pup, and her mom walks in
about halfway through. That's a rosemary bush they're playing in.)

Alex's namesake and the rest of the Washington Capitals are playing game 5
of the Stanley Cup finals tonight. If they win, they become the champions
and that's the end of the hockey season. If they lose, they get two more chances –
game 6 would be on Sunday and game 7 would be on Wednesday, the day Alex arrives.
Almost all of me wants the big win tonight, but there's a teeny tiny part
that thinks a game 7 wouldn't be all bad because then we could watch it together,
and how cute would that be because I really did buy her this:

Let's go Caps!

  1. I LOVE the sound of flapping puppy ears when she shakes her head! Made my morning. Thanks for posting.

  4. Soooo much fun coming your way. You’ll have to plant a rosemary bush for her to play in at your house...for all those times she’ll play in something else.

  5. Less than a week and she’ll be here!!
Another game tonight...I’m nervous and I don’t even watch hockey. :-)
Do you have a jersey, too?

  6. I can really see it in my head. Alex runs eagerly to Johnny, ears flapping, tale wagging, Johnny watches in disbelief and finally arches his back and hisses and smacks her hard on the nose. And poor Alex humbly goes ''oh, okay'' and learns ''don't mess with that creature''. Then her natural enthusiasm takes over again and she runs to Smooch to nip her on her back leg, and Smooch... that's where my imagination stops. No idea how Smooch will respond to so much enthusiasm..

  15. I really like the enthusiasm with which Alex responded to "C'm on guys!" If you nourish that there can be care-free off-leash walks in your future. Have you been practicing with the clicker yet, and do you know "Don't Shoot the Dog" by the one and only Karen Pryor? (Not meant as unsolicited advice, it's just that I always made sure to achieve a reliable recall: more freedom (ahhh), no worries (T.G.!)... Never used an actual clicker thingy, though, just the method + one specific voice signal. - Just rambling, am excited for you after all!)
