Good friends, good times

As I write this Monday night, Danni and Paul are jetting back to Oregon
and I'm trying to sift through pictures and videos from their visit.
A very good time was had by all.
Our mutual love of animals, rural living, adventure, good food, etc.,
made for a very companionable visit.

All of our adventures were well documented.

A highlight of the weekend was scaling the petroglyph cliff,
then enjoying a few adult beverages at the top.

I wish you could smell this. Chef Paul made us beef bourguignon.
The man can cook, and what a treat it was for me to have someone assume the kitchen duties.

On Monday, we played tourists and rode the tram to Sandia Peak above Albuquerque.

It's a long and scary way down, especially when the wind is blowing.

 Isn't that right, Danni?
Nobody lost their lunch, though, because we hadn't eaten yet.

Our last stop before the airport.

Excuse me now. There's a piece of cherry pie left with my name on it.

  5. Good friends! That can truly mean good times. Love how you got up close and personal to that big black and white with the HORNS. He looked like he was saying "cheese" and hoping you were getting his best side.

  7. I'm thinking that Danni and Paul could probably travel the world with their talents. What a lucky lady you are to have friends like those 2!

  10. What a lovely accounting of a time with good friends. Love everything ya'll did. I know you needed a boost and Danni and Paul are a good team for that.
Got a tram story real quick. In college (back in the old days) my sorority had our winter formal up at the "Peak House". The tram cables froze up while we were going up and we hadn't even reached the first tower. We were stuck with no visibility (thank goodness) for 4 hours with only formal wear and stupidly no coats. The tram had workers bring us blankets and kept us calm for all that time. We had to go up the rest of the way. Get on a bus and ride down the back of the Sandia Mts. By the time we got back to ABQ, nothing was open and we just went home. Took me many, many years to get the courage to give it another try.

  12. As I sit here now, back in my beloved rainy Oregon, I'm smiling at the pics of the fun we had. And I loved every second of that tram ride...until that moment, on the way back down, when the wind started to gust, the tram started to sway, and the tram operator told us it was gusting at 30 mph. I think my smile dimmed just a bit at that point, but only briefly. Good times. :-).
    I miss New Mexico already.

  13. Wow! Good food, good friends, good times! I did the tram once about twenty years ago. I still remember my terror, er, excitement. Aunt Jean
