For the family album

Every holiday when I was growing up, my dad would take a photograph of
my mom, my sister and I, usually standing in front of the house,
in whatever attire appropriate for the occasion.

Those photographs marked the passage of time over the years,
and it's always fun, albeit embarrassing, to look back at them.

I suspect you have a similar collection of your own.

This blog has become my de facto family album,
with eight years of photographs to look through and
compare how the kids have grown and changed.

So these are the portraits that will mark the occasion of Easter 2016.

They should all be thankful that I didn't make them wear bonnets.

  1. I love those hats. You look like little dolls. Has it really been 8 years?

  2. I think that they could totally pull of the bonnets. Except for Johnny. He needs a cowboy hat or a rakish beret.

  3. So glad to see that my mother was not the only one to pick out some "interesting" outfits for Easter.

  5. Ha! And the bonnet's elastic was always so tight and those white anklets would ride down inside the back of my patent leather shoes! Your family album is wonderful! Happy Easter to you and yours, Carson :)

  7. OMG....love the matching bonnets and shoes!!! I can remember always having a new Easter dress, coat, hat, etc... then off to visit family. The highlight year was when my aunt and uncle's dog chased me down and tackled me in my Easter get-up....then proceeded to act like the typical male dog. Horrified, my Mom threw the entire outfit into the trash and never let me wear it again. Obviously the incident didn't scar me for life as I fill my life with dogs! Hmmmmm, or did it? I don't believe I've worn a bonnet since that day!!!

  8. I was just looking through an old family album and found family Easter pics with new hats and new outfits. I guess it was a time for renewal including clothes, shoes and hats. Enjoy the celebration, Carson. I know your crew will be looking for treats and you have all the eggs you could possibly want. Can't wait to see the colored basket of eggs you prepared.

  10. Great Easter pics of the fam. I don't miss those Easter bonnets either. Around here Derby hats abound. Still refuse to participate. Must be scarred for life.

  15. Oh yeah, I have my pic with my older sister...posed exactly the same way. One Easter I was standing on the toilet in those slippery shoes and fell in. That didn't go well. Your kids have no idea how lucky and photogenic that they are...love the bonnet idea. Next year!
