The morning routine

The first comment on yesterday's post, from Elsewhere, said, "Now we want a video
of you putting the muzzles on. Are they as cooperative then?" Why, yes, they are.
But it's a whole lot harder putting them on with a camera in one hand. I need a hat cam.
This video was taken Thursday morning, from about 6:30 to 7:15.
I've edited it down to a bit over 3 minutes.

  1. What a great video. So sweet...each and every face. How blessed you are to wake up to such a sweet menagerie. Thanks for sharing that this morning. I've always wondered what your routine with the babies must be...feeding, cleaning, etc. I know this was just a smidgen of what you do, but I'm so happy that they all have a heaven on earth with you.

  6. Oh no. "This video is not available," it says on the screen. This can only mean that there are "rights issues" regarding the music you picked this time, hence I can't watch the video in Germany. Well, I guess I'm lucky that it has only happened once before (the video where you show how to tie quick-release knots), not that it didn't cause me much chagrin then also. I wonder if 7MSN friends in other European countries are also affected; if not - I'm prepared to emigrate!

    1. Those pesky rights issues! The song is "I'm Alive" by Kenny Chesney and Dave Matthews.

    2. have a look at zenmate.com; it allows you to adjust your IP to other countries. I'm even able to watch BBC Iplayer from the Netherlands!

  7. What a great video. You missed your calling, you should have been a director! Johnny Cashcat was a perfect ending. Please tell us that you had a cup of coffee before venturing outside!

  9. Such good kids! You need one of those GO Pro Cam's for your head. Good for trail ride too.

  10. Beautiful video! Er, uh...I think Johnny Cat wants in! I find my morning animal routine (feeding cats, dogs, and birds) takes about 15 minutes!

  11. Thank you Carson. That's a beautiful video. It's so obvious Lucy (and the boys) loves you so much. And i just don't know what to say about that JCC. He's one of the cutest kitties on the planet. Hope you and yours have a wonderful weekend.

  13. Aww, I love that routine. Those expectant faces, so patient and loving. My coffee is good but it tastes so much better when I am there :-)
( your nails look great BTW)

  14. Early morning with my animals is one of the very best times of day, too.
    Thanks for sharing yours!

  15. What a beautiful start to a day, with all the things (friends) that matter. I'm sure it doesn't feel quite as leisurely & mellow as you make it look, but it beats almost anything else I can think of. Best are the health & happiness of your girl & boys & the Downton Ladies -- cozy digs, breakfast & starting the day on schedule, routine being important to animals, as it is to human animals. Wow, love all over the place!

  16. Thanks for sharing this beautiful video with us. I wonder why feeding my cat and dog first thing each morning doesn't have the same feel your video had, ha! Maybe I need a barn. Anyway, it was beautiful and the music suited it to perfection. Becky

  17. All that before your first cup of joe! Wow. I get the impression that Hank is not a morning kind of guy. Where is Smooch during all this eye-opening activity?

    1. Smooch gets fed first, and it was so dark when we started that none of her video was usable. She sits on her chair on the back porch during morning barn chores and of course gets a cookie on my way back into the house.

  18. Very sweet. AlI your animals are so well behaved, so gentle and they love you a whole lot! The ending was priceless. That Johnny is your shadow for sure. Have a wonderful weekend. PS The music was perfect.

  21. You get to see that every morning! Granted it is a lot of hard work for you but the rewards are immeasurable. Stunned you could do all that before having a cup of coffee.

  22. hahahah Johnny at the window...... too funny.....and, hey...it was dark out there for all of it.... I don't like the wintery months much.... too short a day....

  23. You made my day! How I miss my mornings with barn animals. Perfect video, perfect song, perfect ending with JCC looking through the door. Thank you!

  28. I found myself getting a little teary eyed too! Wonderful video. I also work from home - starting at 6am. I love the early morning - just me and my animals (admittedly only dogs and cats) and the time honoured routine. Could you post what the song was and who the singer is please? I should add that the 7MSN is very much a part of my time honoured routine! Heather

  29. Marvelous video. So much fun for those of us who long for animals and the country but don't have them. Do you have to nudge them into the right stall or do they know where their feed bowl belongs after all this time? I suspect the latter cause they're pretty smart critters that way.

    1. Leslie, they all know where to go if they want their breakfast. Lucy gets fed first, then Hank, then George, then Alan. We've been doing it the same way every morning for ... too many years to count!

  30. OMG you get up so early! Well Im a night owl, haven't seen a sunrise in years. Hope Jonny got to come in and have a after breakfast nap. Loved Lucys face after you put her muzzle on, you could just see the disgust! Thanks for sharing it!

  31. I will watch this over and over again...there are so many nuances...the clop of their hooves in the barn, the "G" on George's muzzle...the sun waking up over the horizon, JCC as your ever present buddy. This is an over-the-moon video, thank you so much for putting it together, and I understand why Linda said it made her cry...the song is a beautiful choice. OK, now we ALL want to live on the 7MSN ranch, so you better bring in some cots and more coffee!!! By the way, you did an excellent job, didn't spill a drop, as you filmed while you walked through the house to your desk! Of course, you could have spilled several cups and edited those out...haha!!

  33. If this were an ad for the brand of coffee poured at the end--hold on a sec while I get mine--I would rate it right up there with those Clydesdale heartstring-pullers.
