The girls sort things out

The merging of the new flock with the old is proceeding smoothly.
No blood has been shed and no feathers have been pulled...so far.
The girls have been together 24/7 since Saturday night.
Lady Mary, Edith and Mrs. Hughes quickly figured out that they
can stay out of trouble as long as they stay out of Minnie's way.

Sometimes this means taking a quick flight out of the coop.

Edith is the bravest in the new bunch and has assumed a leadership role.

Edith: Bitch says we can't go back in until she's done eating.

Lady Mary: Where are her manners?

Minnie: Can't believe she called me a bitch.
Do you see what I have to put up with here?

Minnie: She's talking behind my back, isn't she?

Mrs. Hughes: Keep an eye on her.
She's liable to turn on us at any moment.

Edith: She's no spring chicken. We can outrun her any day.

  4. Oh I love it! Will look for more of the morning chicken soap opera installments. I've always wondered about introducing new chickens to the brood.

  5. Changing the subject just a bit...what became of Fish? We haven't heard anything since March.

    1. Fish is still alive and swimming in the stock tank. There are lots more bugs landing on the water now that the weather is warmer and he's keeping himself busy. I'll let him know you asked about him.

  6. I love how your posts make me chuckle each morning! Now where in your barn area do you have the coop? Looks well protected - especially by the 'ancestors skeletons'!

  9. I had a near miss with my coffee just now! There's something funny about Lady Mary frantically leaping through the air - the photos catch her mid-leap. Or was that Lady Edith? -- Min

  16. As riveting as the chicken drama is, that bone art on the fence is what caught attention the most. Chicken? Road Runner? What an awesome way to use your 'treasures'.
