Me: Somebody's going to get a bath before she's allowed back in the house.
Smooch: Who me? I'm not dirty.
Smooch: Must get to the bottom of this...
Smooch: ... but first I have to sneeze.
Smooch: Maybe if I dig sideways for awhile...
Smooch: I hate it when my ears get full of dirt.
And people wonder why I don't landscape the back yard.
It would spoil all of Smooch's fun.
Smooch: Life is good.
Smooch: Mom could you call the nail salon. I've totally ruined my manicure.
ReplyDeleteShe looks very pleased with herself!
ReplyDeleteThe second photo made me laugh outloud! Smooch sure has fun in her sandbox! :)
ReplyDeleteFunny you should make this your post today....right after I read this article in the NYT yesterday about Carolina dogs. I'm sure Smooch is 100% New Mexican..but wonder if she's kin?http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/16/science/a-dog-that-goes-way-back.html?hpw&_r=0
ReplyDeleteSmooch alias the happy acrobatic beaver!
ReplyDeleteSmooch is such a good smiler!
ReplyDeleteHA!! When us human type dig a hole like that.....it usually means trouble ;p nice to see smooch knows how to entertain herself....
ReplyDeleteMy Pitbull and Jack Russell TERRORIST, do this too...usually right AFTER a bath. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteNow that is a hole-digger! What is Smooch looking for?
ReplyDeletesince I to have a 'digger' in the family, I laughed all the way through these stunning photos of Smooch... her dirt covered face is beyond priceless....one of my most favorite posts.. careful Smooch you might just upstage Hank and the donkey's.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the header photos. I guess that pretty June is well and truly gone.
ReplyDeleteWhat in the world was she after? A good, elusive smell?
ReplyDeleteToo deep to be simply A Cool Spot.
Did she ever locate the thing she was digging for?
ReplyDeleteI bet Wynonna was jealous...
ReplyDeleteLiterally... what in the world is she digging for? I laughed out loud from the first picture on. Love that girl!
ReplyDeleteHappy girl!
ReplyDeleteWe have to dig a bunch of fence posts next week, maybe Smooch could come over and help out ! The pay is not good but the food is.
ReplyDeleteI went to the sight listed above, and read about the Carolina Dogs. You just might have something there, cause I found this:

LOOKS INCREDIBLY LIKE SMOOCH!
Interesting.
You're such a good mom to allow her to dig to her heart's content. We had a dirt pile in our back yard when our son was a little boy. He spent more hours than I can count playing there. I do wonder what caught Smooch's attention at that spot in the yard. She's obviously going after something. LOVE this post. Life IS good, Smooch.
ReplyDeleteSmooch is such a great dog. I just love her happy face as she excavates for whatever it was. Great post and as always excellent photos of a beautiful subject. Oma Linda
ReplyDeleteSo Smooch has a job and I doubt she finds all the questions amusing, more into the why not "go and find your own hole to dig."
ReplyDeleteJo and Stella
She sure looks like she was enjoying herself. Kudo's to you Carson for letting her have her fun. Who needs landscaping anyway?
ReplyDeleteOMG what fun!!!!
ReplyDeleteSoo darn cute- love the dirt covered Smooch face :>)
ReplyDeleteHow cute! Two out of three of our pups enjoy digging. :) I would love to make them their own sandbox.:)
ReplyDeleteSo glad MadSnapper mentioned your blog! Happy day to you!
Marie
Hi, I come from Sandra. I LOVE your blog, and today's post is fabulous! Seeing each and every step in the digging. She is so cute, I love Corgis (she IS a Corgi?) I also love the cute names you have given your animals!
ReplyDeleteThat is quite a hole! And a very satisfied Smooch Pooch :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the smile. She is so happy!
ReplyDeleteNow I understand why Smooch has that beautiful reddish nose!!!
ReplyDeleteNancy in Iowa
How cute...Is she on the trail of something or just enjoying a good dig?
ReplyDeleteI came over from Sandra's blog to have a look. This cracked me up because I have a digger too. My Duke doesn't seem to be quite as good as Smooch is
ReplyDeleteYou have a new follower thanks to my blogging buddy Sandie the mad snapper.
ReplyDeleteI am here from Sandra's too! And I am so glad I did. Your photos are awesome and I love you animals. He sure got dirty didn't he? sandie
ReplyDeleteWhat a riot!
ReplyDeleteI love it! My little terrier is the same way...she comes in with dirt up her nose and all over her face with these innocent little eyes like, "What?" :)
