Let us have some

It was early Saturday morning. We were all waiting for the farrier to arrive,
and the chickens were helping me clean out the refrigerator.

Unlike normal chickens, my girls usually turn up their beaks at leftovers,
but this time, a head of aged red leaf lettuce met their approval.

Hank: Let-tuce have some!

George: The chickens get a whole head of lettuce and you're offering me one baby carrot?
Me: But these are very special carrots that your grandma packed for you and I brought all the way from Florida.
George: Oh. Why didn't you say so? Thanks, grandma!

Lucy: I'm starving here.

Lucy: Thanks, grandma.

  2. My horses (back in the day!) would have been pretty outraged to see the chickens getting perfectly fine lettuce!

  4. Goooood Morning Carson's kids!!! Lucy, it's a good thing you got carrots from your grandma, because the ones I cleaned out of my refrigerator a few days ago had been forgotten far too long and were slimy!!!

  7. Is the licking the fence something Lucy has taken to doing lately???? I hate to think of her doing that during the freezing time. Yikes.
