Barking at the moon

I was really looking forward to last night's supermoon. I headed out into the pasture an hour before moonrise
with my camera and my trusty assistant, hoping to come home with at least one decent moon shot to share.

Smooch: I don't see any moon.

Smooch: Are you sure we've got the right night?
Me: I'm sure. We're just a little early.

Smooch: If it doesn't come up soon, there might not be anything left of this vehicle.

George: I'll rest my head here while we wait.

I had lots of fun taking pictures of everybody waiting for the moonrise.

Which is a good thing, because I didn't like any of the moon pictures I took.

Smooch was quick to remind me that the journey is usually better than the destination anyway.

  1. Not one moon picture? We were totally clouded over here. What a bummer!

  3. Could you post a moon photo or two anyway, for those of us who watched it rain last night?

  4. None of my pictures came out either and I was using my 300 mm zoom lens...sigh...I went out in our front yard. So, WHAT do people use to get a decent photo of the moon? I gave up.

  5. We didn't get good pictures either, but had fun thinking we might. It was cloudy here so it wasn't meant to be. We made up a song called Supermoon with a little howling going on. Smooch is right..it's all in the journey. Looks like shenanigans at the 7MSN.

  6. Same here. There was a break in the clouds for about 5 mins at 10 pm, and I was too tired to be interested.

  7. Last night's moon in CO looked the same as it did on Friday night ... I was expecting it to look like a huge Harvest Moon, but that didn't happen. I thought it was a bit over-hyped ... Oh well ... maybe it will look bigger tonight! Hugs ... Marcia

  9. I went out and tried to take moon shots last night as well and they were a complete failure. I said to myself "oh well, I bet Carson will post some great moon photos..." Seeing these photos of your herd made me smile in a way the moon never will though. I'll take them over a super moon any day.

  10. Awww, Smooch is so smart. Love that dog and the photos that you did get, even if they weren't of the moon.

We had a very cloudy night so no moon pics here either... darn it all to heck and back.

What moon? We had thunderstorms move through the area. Oh well. I love the photo of George resting his head along with the next one of Lucy and George framing Smooch.

Smooch doesn't seem to be too concerned about the donkeys. Most dogs get nervous around donkeys as they get chased. She is a beautiful girl.

  13. Oh my gosh, I love that George was giving your run about a hug. Alan was tasting all the goodness. Your fur kids are so cute. Fun gathering for the moon.
We went out and got to sing and dance to a clear sky moon look just as it cleared the Sandias and before I could get my camera back out from the house....the lovely shell shaped clouds came along and no pix here either. But what a gorgeous evening to share a perigee moon. Oma Linda

  14. I wasn't so much disappointed in my photos as I was in the moon itself! Beautiful, but not the giant orb I expected. I, too, was expecting a huge Harvest Moon.

  15. We had so many clouds we couldn't even see it.

    Love this picture though:

  16. Well shucks, I didn't bother to take any pix because I just KNEW that all the rest of you would have some lovely ones. We've been looking at the same side of the moon for quite a while, anyway. Let me know when that changes.

  17. Smooch is so wise. We tried to find our moon but it was way over there through the woods. By the time we did find it, we were all too tired.

By the way, the last photo of Smooch is fabulous. Better than any moon photo for sure.

  18. Great pictures! I didn't even know about the moon until this morning, but it's been raining all week, so I'm telling myself it would've been too cloudy to see it anyway.

  19. After working all day in my yard, I was pretty exhausted but I stayed up long enough to see that the moon was HUGE! Alas, I didn't take any photos....
Tonight, if I'm not too tired I will take some photos and hope they turn out.
I too, loved the last 3 pictures of your "family". I always have to start my day with a daily dose of the gang!

  20. Well at least you saw it. Rain here which we needed. I guess it mattered where you live if it looked more exciting than an normal full moon. Smooch is way cuter anyway.

  21. The weather dude said areas outside of Seattle would have better views of the moon. He was wrong...again. It was magnificent but I didn't take a photo.
*a friend of mine says he'd like to be a weather forecaster because it is the only job where you can be frequently wrong and not get fired.

  22. I would ask "What moon?" but I don't want to sound like a COMPLETE idiot...

  24. Crazy how George and Alan are eating your vehicle!!

You got some great photos while you were waiting.

  25. I saw it but didn't even know it was super.

I'm with Smooch. I've been learning a great deal about loving the moment, the journey, and realizing that it's being together that makes things really super.
