Weekend forecast - picture perfect

Last night as I was trying to eradicate every last speck of dust and cat hair from the house, I decided there was no time to prepare a post for today. Now that things are almost under control, I'll take a minute to let you know that the wind has finally stopped blowing and the outlook for the rest of the weekend is picture perfect.

See what I mean about the wind? Early in the week, I looked out the window to make sure the barn was still standing. It was. I also saw that Wynonna had found a new favorite place to take a nap – in the ditch, which was comfortably cushioned by alot of hay that had blown over from the other side of the fence.

Turns out that this is Wynonna's new favorite place whether the wind is blowing or not. I caught her there again yesterday, taking a long snooze in the sun. Perhaps she heard about the weekend's agenda and was preparing herself for the festivities to come.

A friend whom we've never met in person but whom we feel as if we've known forever (somebody please correct me if I've confused whom with who or that or which or whatever) is arriving today to partake in some sunshine and margaritas.

I've assured her there will be absolutely none of this nonsense.

Wynonna has assumed her role as town crier and is watching the road, ready to announce our friend's arrival. The posting schedule might be a little erratic this weekend, but we'll try our best to share some of the adventures.

  1. whom must be preceded by a preposition so "to whom", "by whom", "from whom", "for whom" . . . otherwise use who -- does that help?

  2. I can't believe I'm first!!! But, then, I didn't sleep last night, so it's only because I'm still up. Wynonna looks lumpy, er, uh, lovely in her new sleeping place! Have a blast with your visitors this weekend.

  8. Thought maybe it had gotten so windy that Wynonna was taking cover from a tornado. They always told us in Iowa to take cover in a ditch...LOL

  9. That Wynonna is one smart girl. She found a perfect resting hole without having to dig like dogs do!
Wish I was there! Use to the wind. We have the sunshine and warm weather, will have to find some margaritas after 5:00.... Not the same as 7 MSN though....

  10. Funny how a little more sunshine and the pending arrival of Spring makes us do that - clean up every speck of dust and cat hair - I spent hours doing the same thing on Wednesday! Got a new Hoover Wind Tunnel P.A.W.S. and I can't believe how much cat hair and dust that thing picks up. Hope you have a great day and weekend!

  13. It looks like Wynonna found a great spot for napping. Are you sure she'll announce the arrival of your company? She may decide she's too comfortable to bother. :) Have fun this weekend!

  15. learning german helped me with this.

    it's called dative case.

i learned in german class that the word whom is the only surviving example of an explicitly dative word in english. (can anyone confirm?)

penni said it, and wiki too.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dative_case

knowing this i still screw it up regularly in both languages.

  17. I am selfishly hoping to meet Estelle....

  18. PS: you used "whom" correctly. it is the object of the sentence even though it is in front (we have never me whom). that's my 2 cents worth anyway... :)
