The longest hour ... and the winningest month

Hold me up, George. I'm so weak with hunger I'm about to pass out.

I know the clock says 4:00, but my stomach says it's 5:00.

Please, won't you feed us now? I'm begging you here.

I've never been so hungry in my whole life!

George: I can't HANDLE the stinkin' time change!

Me: Get over it. We've got an important announcement to make.

The winner of the 2011 George and Alan Calendar, as selected by Random Number Generator, is...

Congratulations, Cctxranch. Please email me your mailing address and a calendar will be on its way to you. And thanks, everybody, for playing along in the contest. The boys at the watering hole in August was the favorite picture of 19.2% of you, beating out the three amigos heading up the trail in April with 13.6%.

  1. Congrats to the winner!

I love the pictures of the boys ... they look like they're truly desperate! I scrolled through the pictures over and over and just had to laugh out loud!

  4. Congratulations, CCTX! I feel like we're all winners this week because of that bread experience. We just got the Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day book at our house so we can continue our discoveries. Thanks, Linda.

  5. Very funny.
I feel your pain, boys. There is no law says I have to wait an extra hour. Keep giving that pitiful look. She'll cave in.

  6. Congrats to CCTXranch. Guess I'll trot off and order one for myself now, too.

Tell the boys we can feel their hunger pangs all the way to WI. I get Schnauzer stares as I teach violin students an hour earlier now that we've switched times. Those internal clocks are amazingly accurate when it comes to meals!

  7. Congratulations, Cctxranch ! Great prize.

My dogs can't figure out the time change either, you'd think they were starving. They want to go out an hour earlier too at night. They'll all get used to it though. Great pictures and commentary.

  8. Good Lord, those are some funny pic's! I think a snack is definitely in order to hold 'em over.... It's not their fault we won't leave the stinkin' time alone! Carrots, cookies or an apple.... C'mon Mom!

  9. George,

Just like I told Bernard, flaring your nostrils does not make you look skinnier.

  10. Well, looks like I better call the BLM and tell them to come get their donkeys. :) It's obvious you are torturing your boys.
    Congrats cctxranch!

  12. I don't think they can get more pathetic than that! Poor poor boys! One of the things I like about Creston is that we don't do the time change here.
    Lucky cctx!

One of our dogs gets her meds at 4pm, along with a slice of PetSelect chicken/veg. She's started to sit down in front of the fridge at 2:30 and stare at it. It is as if she is willing the fridge door open so she can get the PetSelect!
Aww how can you resist such sweet begging from the boys?

  22. I can't believe it! I never win anything. Thanks Carson, I will truly enjoy the calendar :)

Poor George. He looks so sad...and like he is in pain! I don't like the time change or cold weather either.

  23. BREAD UPDATE! Being stuck to the stone did no real harm and, you ought to try the bread dipped in roasted red pepper hummus. Be watching for me on "The Biggest Loser"!

  24. Hey, the same pain and agony is happening at our place, but mostly with the dogs. They have the darker days that indicate dinner is coming sooner (right?) and now the time change. Poor miserable pups.

simple to make and in my great grandmothers stone crock bowl it is right at home with the millions of other breads that have lain and risen there... my Aunt was tickled pink to hear there was bread working in it again:)
