Same skull, different days

Every time I walk through this gate with my camera, I take a picture. I can't help myself.

  1. A person just doesn't realize how each day is so different til they take a picture of the same thing/same place ... the skull is a good example. Neat pictures!

  2. Is there a story behind the skull, or did you find it on a walk one day? Bull Skulls are fairly common in rural Australia as propery decorations, in my view they are a potent symbol of the harshness of the country/desert. I'd love to know why you put your skull up on the fence :)

  4. Is this a horse skull? Was it a beloved lucky 7MSN resident at one time, or perhaps a wild horse?

There's a book called "The Dramatic Rescue of the Wild Herd of White Sands" by Don Hoglund. It's about the wild horses in your area in NM. You might enjoy reading it if you haven't already.

  5. Love the light in the first...and of course the rainbow in just the right place!

There are vignettes around me that I love as well - photographing them as you do the skull is fascinating to me as they can look so very different and tell a different story depending on the light.

A "Feel better soon!" to Hank.

  6. A little homage to Georgia O'Keefe. Love the New Mexico sky.

  7. I take a camera everywhere I go and take repetitive photos of the same thing. Why I don't know, I just go with it.

I love the variety of light, shadow, and angles in your pics.

  8. Ah, the sights of home. We have a deer skull I feel the same way about.

There is something peaceful about a bleached out skull, but this is beginning make me sound creepy so I'll just leave it at that.

  9. Wonderful photos. I love skulls and have four of them around this place, none that ever lived here though. Even though I have had some great horned cows and sheep, I can't bring myself to use their skulls and always bury them with the bodies. One of mine I bought, the other three were found.

  10. I love the skull but then we have a buffalo skull hanging in our bedroom. I would love some more skulls but hubby says no until we move onto some property so we can take the horses out of the boarding facilities.

  11. It has so much character...if one can say that about a dead skull...and it's so 7MSN. I mean that in the best possible way. *smile*

  12. I feel that way about the Statue of Liberty and the dog that lives next door.

  16. It's super you caught the rainbow. As much as we can SEE them, sometimes the camera doesn't!

  17. what beautiful pics as usual! So, what kind of skull is that?

And there is something poetic about the skull and the rainbow juxtaposed......
