Teaching Deets to ride bareback

Me: Deets, you've got to stay centered and don't grip with your legs.

Me: It's ok to grab onto George's mane if you start to lose your balance,
but don't be digging your claws into his skin, got it?

Me: Now what did I just say about those claws? And this isn't a trick riding lesson.
Turn around and face the right way.

Deets: But the view is better in this direction.

George: Are you ready? I'm going to start walking toward the gate.

Deets: This really is pretty simple. I don't know why both of you
are making such a big deal over it.

George: Hang on. I've got an itch.

George: Oh, look. A blade of grass that I missed earlier.

Deets: Geez, George, you're so freakin' slow. Call me when you're ready to trot.

  1. Oh my gosh Carson, that post/pictures were simply THE best! George is so calm having a cat on his back, and Deets seems right at home, even backwards! HA!

Did you put Deets up on George or does he occasionally go there himself to check out the view?

  12. How very cool! Your animals never cease to amaze doing things that you'd never imagine they would. But they are in a magical place, so it only stands to reason...

  20. I had a tea cup poodle that loved to ride on anything moving! It could be on the quad, on horseback or in the truck. Her favorite place seemed to be in the saddle with me riding the trails! She'd sit up front and rest her paws on the saddle horn pretty as you pleased. I miss that old dog now that I think about it.

  21. Well, that was *great* photos! George is such a sweet and gentle guy, and Deets ... I mean, he just owns the world. Even though it's hard to pick a favourite, the two of them in the third picture are something else!

  24. based on the first picture - George did not look too happy - I thought this might be one of those series that needed the hillbilly music. But oh goodness.....isn't George the most patient and kind. And I guess Deets really does think he's in charge of it all!
So...did Deets hop up there on his own and does he do it frequently?

  25. I love #3...with them both looking in different directions perusing their kingdoms.
