Saturday encore ~ George's and Alan's favorite Superbowl commercial

Surely you've all seen this commercial, which I posted last year on Superbowl Sunday. But just in case you haven't, it bears repeating. I'd be embarrassed to tell you how many times I've watched it.

Football is not my favorite sport, but I'll be watching the Superbowl today just to see what my favorite Clydesdales are up to this year. I've read that there will be three different spots featuring these giants.

And maybe there will be one or two other memorable commercials...like this next one, which is another of my all-time favorites.

Enjoy the game.

  1. Love it! I forgot about that commercial. Bud does make the best commercials for the SB.

  2. Somehow I just knew to put down my coffee cup and I'm glad I did!!! A couple of good laughs to start the week end ... thanks Carson!

  3. I must have been under a rock...I've never seen that Budweiser commercial! But come to think of it, I don't think I watched the Superbowl last year. Anyway, thanks for sharing, it was great.

  4. It's the only reason I watch the SB. Usually, I'm off doing something else and they call me for the commercials. Unless the Cowboys are playing, in which case detailed game knowledge is required for water cooler chatter for the following 2 weeks.

  5. Ha haa!!! Thank you for the laugh Linda! I remember them both well too. Funny how with the cat herding video you really don't remember who it's sponsered by.

  6. All the Budweiser Clydesdale commercials are great, aren't they?

  7. First time I have seen the donkey one. I loved it. A little donkey with big dreams.

  8. DUH .... guess you've been watching those "best of the best" commercials (I heartily agree) just a little too long. The Super Bowl is *tomorrow*! Go Colts. (Pierre Garcon played football at my tiny college in Ohio.)

  9. You know that we all love it too. This has got to be one of the cutest commercials of all time. Can't wait to see tomorrow's Clydesdale commercial.

  10. The first one almost made me cry... the donkey is so so cute and when he lowers his ears one by one.. just way too cute. Thank you for sharing:)

  12. Yes! I love those Clydesdale commercials too! I had not seen the one with the donkey in it. My fav is the one with the little Clyde in it...who dreams of being a big horse one day and tries to pull the yoke....

  13. So so so sweet. Every time I watch it, I want to get a couple more donkeys to play with Gunny and Harry. I just LOVE my little guys. Great commercial! I also love the one with the baby Clydesdale who "pulls" the wagon with the help of some big friends.

  14. I have a vague memory of something called a "super bowl" but I can't quite place it.

It must have something to do with horses, based on your post. Or it could be a bowling competition, that seems logical.

  16. I loved that one too! I think I was a huge fan of George's last year so it made even a bigger impact. Thanks for sharing.

  17. I had not seen the Budweiser commercial either. Loved it! And, since I am from Louisiana, guess you know who I'll be rooting for tomorrow. GO SAINTS!!!

  18. OMG - I loved both of them! Never saw either before - and my cat was trying to con me into more snacks as I watched the cat herding.

    Thanks for the smiles!

  19. I had never seen the cat herding commercial. Loved it. May have seen the donkey one. Somehow I manage to check out the Clydesdale offerings usually.

The first time the Bengals went to the Super Bowl, and lost, we lived just a little south of the riverfront area on higher ground - closer to the airport and daughter pre-school age. Superb seasons bring media attention. One night during the season the blimp went floating by outside our balcony window with Snoopy in lights on the side. You should have seen her face as we stood out there and watched the magic. Advertising can be special.

  20. Love the donkey commercial but must admit that I am seriously concerned that the big horses are going to run him over. Wouldn't his stride be a lot shorter? I know it's just a commercial and that the animals are totally monitored, and yet I still worry.
Think I'll go try to find me a life...

  21. It's enough to make me take up beer drinking.

Okay, maybe not. But I do love the superbowl ad fest. It's the best part of the game (since I'm not a football fan).

  22. That's the reason I watch too (unless there's a cute coach). You hit on two of my favorite ads. I even saved the one of cat herding to my hard drive :)

  23. I've never seen the Budweiser donkey ad! I LOVED it!!!!! I've seen the Budweiser clydesdales several times up close and they are absolutely gorgeous. Pampered, shiny, confident, gorgeous babies. That donkey was SO cute!

I have watched the cat herder video many times and really enjoy it. I always see something new.

This was so much fun, Linda. Thanks!

  24. And I'm embarrassed to tell you how I tear up *every time* I watch that little donkey in the Bud commercial. :)

  25. Two of my favorites too....but we will forego the Super Bowl today for Avatar with friends and Italian dinner beforehand. I'll be able to see all the good commercials on YouTube by the time I get home from the movie tonight....or here by tomorrow!

Enjoy the festivities ... and I don't mean the play by play.

  26. OMG!! I think I almost choked watching the "cat herders"!! And I absolutely LOVED the donkey and the Clydes.....I will always be partial to the Budweiser Clydes! They came to our town two years ago and were in our Boatnik Parade in May; I have some wonderful pictures of the gentle giants :)

And, I love the Cat Herding commercial. It's a classic!!
