Adventures in plumbing

Living alone in the middle of nowhere is an adventure in itself, but imagine how exciting it gets when things break! This weekend, I got to replace the kitchen faucet! Whoohoo! Party under the sink!

Since I was going to be upside-down in a cabinet and contorted like a pretzel for most of the afternoon anyway, why not uninstall the non-working reverse osmosis unit while I was down there? More excitement! More thrills! More water dripping on my face!

About an hour into the project, this is exactly how my kitchen looked...

...except I had an apprentice to hand me tools.

The sweet thrill of victory:

  3. Way to go Carson. Now that's living out there by yourself. If you can fix the plumbing you can fix anything. Hat's off!
    Best always, Sandra

  5. Something else to add to your resume'!
Water and electricity (not together, of course) are two fix-it jobs that elude me. Too scary. It's the dying(electricity) or the flood possibility that keep me from tackling them.

I need to replace two of mine but I'm much too... terrified.

    Is your osmosis reversed too?

  12. LUV that new faucet--we're taking the kitchen plunge in the spring--after 7 years of particle-board backsplash. Cannot wait--great job--so impressed!

  13. Nice faucet dude....I toyed with the rubbed bronze look when I was picking out fixtures for the new house. Decided, nah, just because of those darn hard water spots. But then, I installed a dark charcoal granite sink in the kitchen. What was I thinking?

  18. I like your faucet -- has a real rancherwoman look to it. Your helper looks singularly uninterested in anything but being entertained by watching from above. They are so good at that!

  19. Pat on the back! Also, like the pretty colorful tile in there.

  22. Ok so this may sound weird... Love the new faucet

(seriously, I have a problem. I could wander the aisles of home improvement stores for ages looking at things like faucets, drawer pulls, etc)

  24. See...there IS more than one way for a woman to make a living on her back :-)! I've done this myself although my current sink and faucet need to be replaced, with the reverse osmosis unit, I will hire a plumber this time!
