A few weeks ago, I recounted here how Lyle managed to
hold me hostage in the feed room. Fellow blogger and
very smart cowgirl Shirley commented that I might want to cut a hand-sized hole next to the slide bolt so that Lyle could not enjoy a repeat performance. I thought this was a brilliant idea and set out this morning to create my little window of opportunity.
Lyle of course insisted on helping.

But I convinced him his talents were better suited to supervising.

It may not be pretty, but it works.

You-know-who was the first to come over to investigate once the job was done.

How do you like me now, Mr. Smartypants?

Great idea, now just watch out he doesn't find somewhere else to have you holed up for a while. Very funny horse, love his pictures, especially the eye looking through your escape route.
Who says you can't outwit a horse. Be careful Linda, I bet he's out in the pasture thinking up ways to get back at cha.
Best always, Sandra
excellent love his curiosity
Yep...I bet he's out in the pasture thinking up ways to get back at cha.
Great Job! I feel safer for ya now.
I love your adventures with your animals!
Snort! The pics of the two horse boys investigating the new escape hatch is a HOOT. You are very wise to do this as quickly as you did, I'm thinking. There is still waaaaay too much mischief in those equine eyes. :-)
LOL, Brilliant idea!
This post made me LAUGH!! oh heavens, woman, the things you do... still laughing here in AZ.. that Lyle is something else, isn't he?
Yup, he'll be thinkin' all right - the gauntlet has been thrown down!
Pretty ingenious! Not sure if I mean him or you. We'll see who wins this one.
He is Mr. Smarty-Pants! He's also just so darned cute, too!
That's an excellent solution. That Lyle is too smart for his own good. Little rascal.
That is too funny! Now you don't have to worry about being locked in! The funny things horses do.....
LOL!!! Lyle is gorgeous!!! Smary pants indeed!! =P
Sometimes mamas spoil all the fun.
Looks good I think! Great problem solver that Shirley!
Another GOOD laugh from me, especially with Lyle looking through your newly made 'escape hole'! Job well done Linda!!
Happy to have been helpful! I just love the pictures of Lyle "helping" and investigating. "Curses! Foiled again!" What a great personality he has!
You gonna hang a piece of carpet or something on the inside so the birds don't find their way into the feed room?
I love that he's such a helper. :)
LOL! what a great Idea! I am sure you did a good job since you had such a good supervisor. I love that last picture of his eye through the hole!
Now all he has to do is back up and push his butt against the hole. And I wouldn't put it past him to learn that! Loved the "beady eye" photo.
Cute post. I thought about you most of the afternoon today, we were headed home from Colorado and when we were driving thru New Mexico...I kept thinking how far from where we were to where you are....and of course...thought of your pets too! Have a great week.
Pretty nice job.
What a great idea!!!!
Oh my gosh.......I had a similar situation once. I stepped into a holding cell to uncuff a prisoner. I wasn't worried about the door closing behind me because the locks are electronic and I need to stick a barrel key into them to make them CLICK shut.
You guessed it. CLICK and I am trapped in the cell with a gun on with the prisoner just smilin'.
Hahahaha.
Adventures With Lyle.
Who knew horses could be the source of such fun. Used to leave me mostly weeping at the finish line back in college.
Love your stuff :- )
Great idea! I'm glad to see you won't be held captive any longer! I'll now have to update my link to your previous story...
I hope you are having a great week!
Just an idea, but I'm sure you could make some really cute childrens' stories out of your "adventures with Lyle" ;)
Something tells me that Lyle will soon come up with another new trick :)
