Skywatch, cruisin' with the top down

There's nothing like a clear blue sky to tempt Smooch and I to go joy riding in the ranch convertible. I strap her into her seat belt and off we go.

I'm sure she would prefer to ride in the back unharnassed, like any other self-respecting ranch dog, but the magnetic forces of the bovines and jackrabbits are too powerful to keep her in check.

She longs for the day when I'll hand over the keys and she can go cruisin' all by herself.

To see what else is happening beneath the skies this week, check out the links on the Skywatch home page.

  1. Now I REALLY enjoyed this post ... Smooch is simply the best and the pictures of her are awesome, but the last picture gave me a good laugh! Yep, she's checking it out and hoping she can take mom for a joy ride some day!!!

  4. I'll have to investigate seat belts for our two wiggly terriers who love to ride in our ATV. However, the one place they seem to sit quietly is in the vehicle. They wouldn't jump out for fear of missing the ride.

  7. Smooch is one lucky dog. I'm sure if you left the keys in the ignition she'd figure out how to drive it around without a seat belt.
    Great sky.

  17. What a good dog-mom you are. Besides, I am sure she hasn't earned her learner's permit and would have to carry it somehow. She would be stylin' with her own Coach, don't ya think?

  23. Very cool post and photos...

Smooch is a gorgeous girl and she really does look as though she's trying to figure out the driving thing, in that last photo :-)

So glad you strap her in, we do the same thing with our two ... though they need bolster seats to see out the window :-)

  26. Cute, I love the doggie seatbelt harness! They say to use those in cars, but I don't think many people do. My parents' dog typically rides in the front of the car and I always say if they are in a car wreck, she'll hit the windshield. Or if she's in the backseat, she can hit a passenger. Something you don't want to think about, but especially with a big dog. And if we belt ourselves in, why not our beloved pets?
