The highlight of yesterday's road trip was awaiting us as we turned off the highway and headed back in to the ranch. There to greet us was
Big O. He was the first bull I met when I moved here, and I'm always delighted to see him. Some might think,
you seen one bull, you seen 'em all. Not so with this guy. His name is a Spanish word that begins with O, but I can never remember what it is, so I just call him Big O.
Uh-O. Here it comes.
I am really starting to get a complex about this,

and this...
and this...
and this...
and this...
But I digress. Despite the rude behavior, Big O is a fine speciman of a bull.
He has been the big bull on this campus for a long time, and his offspring are equally distinguished.
Let's just say the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree and leave it at that.

I love Big O!!! And I wouldn't take the whole tongue-thing personally. I think that must mean something different in the animal world...something like, Mmmm...I bet you taste gooood....but, well, I guess that's not better, is it. That just makes it sound like they all want to gobble you up. Awesome pics!
errr maybe their version of "hang loose"? I dunno you definitely seem to capture more animal tongues pics than anyone else....they MUST be telling you something! :)
OMG, what magnificent horns! I'll bet the bull that lives down the road from me would be so jealous if he could see this. Does Mr. Big O ever try to block your way as you drive through? Notice i call him Mr. out of respect - such an impressive fellow!

O is probably for "Oso"...that means....BEAR! He looks as big as a bear!

Yea, there must be something about you that causes the animals to stick out their tongues at you. Maybe it's because your hair smells good and they want a taste?
It almost looks like Big O is flirting with you. First it's the eyes, then the tongue. Girl...look out...I think that bull is sweet on you.

He's gorgeous! I bet he really stands out, too, since most cows out there seem to be shades of brown or black.
He reminds me of a great big Oreo cookie. And I sure do love me some black and white(orca) critters!
I read an article a while back about certain snakes that when faced with a predator will sometimes roll over on their back and let their tongue hang out, to discourage whoever may be hovering over it to think it had died.
Maybe the tongue thing is a sign of respect showing you that they want no trouble?
Maybe all the animals out there around 7MSN have been taken over by aliens, like the 'pod creatures' in that movie. Maybe they're not animals anymore?

I have to agree that it sure is odd how so many animals give you the tongue, though.

I am a big fan of your blog, despite being young, and i was wondering what type of camera you use. I envy the fact that you can make a cow licking its nose look so good. Anyway, keep up the good work!!
Alexa, I use a Nikon D80. Cows really seem to like it.

Hilarious how you have captured so many of those tongues. Those are some huge cattle. Wow!
If all of those animals didn't look so happy in their mug shots, I would think that they were giving you the human equivalent of "the bird!" LOL!!!
