Neighborhood Watch
There's trouble in the pasture ... trespassers have crawled under the fence.

ReplyDeletePat, the boys don't miss a trick, and the cool part is, they'll tell me when I need to come outside and check something out. Whether it's a vehicle going down the road or a herd of pronghorn, if it's not supposed to be there, I hear about it. Alan will bray, or Hank will whinnie, or Lyle and George will stampede.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I love Pronghorn Antelope. I have a great picture of one from a trip we took to Yellowstone. For some reason he let us come up to a few yards from him and he just stood and looked at us.

It's funny too, because I am usually a sucker for chestnuts with chrome, but Hank's bay and chrome make my heart go pitter patter!

Just too funny! Our stallion lets us know when a car's coming up the road. But, from the sound of his calling, I think it's more "Oh boy! Bringing me a mare!" than an alert. :)

ReplyDeleteBetween Salina's watchful eye, very loud alarm call, and Rafer Johnson's boldness and loud bray, we are set as well when it comes to knowing if something is happening outside.
The Corgis can also hear (feel?) if the horses are running, even inside the house, and they will bark a certain bark which means I need to look out the window.
You know, you could have your own TV show on Animal Planet!

ReplyDeleteThose antelope obviously didn't realize whose territory they were moving in on...then they realized who they were messing with and were "out of there!" Your horses and donks are the greatest!! :)
