So here's the thing...

Lots of you have commented on my recent rattlesnake adventure, and I'm flattered that you think I'm brave. I don't think it's about bravery, though - more like an over-developed sense of adventure. From the time I got Smooch in the house and knew she wouldn't get snakebit, to the time I hurled the lethal boulder, I was laughing. Seriously! The whole scene was ludicrous.

I mean, come on. There I am, standing on a chair in my flip-flops, taking pictures of a coiled-up snake to figure out what kind he is. I'm dashing back and forth, first to get the shovel, then the gun, then the flashlight, taking more pictures because I'm thinking "cool, this will be a great story to blog about." The boys are in the corral huffing and snorting and stampeding because mom isn't supposed to be outside at this time of night. I'm talking out loud to a snake, telling it to get the heck out of my yard, hurling an array of stuff at him and missing time after time, because I can't laugh and throw at the same time. No, this was not bravery. This was an episode of the Three Stooges minus two.

I think the reason I love my life so much is because every day brings a new adventure. This weekend, I am renting a brush hog to mow down the grass and weeds under the fence line. That ought to be ripe for lots of adventures, and a good story or two to blog about.

  1. Well at least we know what to watch out for. If you are laughin', we know there is a chance we are all in danger.

  2. You know...

Real life can be the most fun thing, if we just take the time to enjoy it. THAT is what I like about your blog. It's a great reminder of what I have in my own life that I should be enjoying.

  3. heheheeh! Oh my goodness. You are a blog addict now. And there is no cure!

I think we should create one of those "10 Ways to know you are seriously addicted to Blogging" lists! hehe

You know what the visuals of your bout with the snake reminded me?

Do you remember the scene with the wolf, in Dances with Wolves? The one where the Native American, catches Kevin Costner dancing naked with a wolf?

Bwahahaa! Oh to have watched a video of you out there laughing like a mad woman trying to kill a snake, all the while planning how to blog about it!

I just love this so much! :)

  4. Oh, my oh my. You were doing this in the dark?? I guess I missed that the first time. Well, you have escalated to superwomen now. there is NO WAY I would have been trying to kill a rattler in the dark. I'm quiet sure I would have been crying, not laughing.

  6. You know you're crazy don't you? Good, that's a step in the right direction, most crazy people don't!
Really, anybody who is laughing when faced with a poisonous deadly snake,(who could by the way kill you) is just a little bit off.
Seriously, be careful we wouldn't want to lose an interesting blogger like you!

  8. Girl, you are too funny. I loved that. Especially the though of you standing in a chair, talking to the snake, throwing things and all the time the animals snorting and farting or whatever they were doing. That was just funny. I needed to laugh too. I had a shitty day.
