Beam Us to the Beach

  1. OMG Carson, MORE snow! I guess all your critters are tired of it too, well except one knucklehead, HA! Deets is pretty brave venturing out like he did .. what a brave guy!

You're sending it our way ... yikes, now they're saying 8 to 14"! That's MAJOR snow for us. When will this end?

  2. Deets, man...you've got it perty good.
What's all the WI weather doing in NM?

  3. You sure do give the animals the life to feel like they are on the beach:) I loved the music sure made me want to go along to the beach too!

  4. Brrrrrrrrrr..... this video was great and really captured the feeling of winter hibernation.

  5. Too funny. Looks like we're both dreaming of the Bahamas today. ;)

  6. We've had clear weather for a couple of days, so it should be heading your way, too! Hang in there! Brrrrrrrrr!!!! Deets sure is cute!

  7. Is this a you tube post?? I CAN'T see it..... now I'll have to wait until I get home...darn...

  8. Love the video! Wynonna is so cute all huddled up under her blanky! I do feel sorry for you though, it looks COLD. Hope all that white stuff melts soon!

  9. Lol, great video! Let's hope the groundhog does not see his shadow next week.

  10. Nancy, I posted this through Vimeo instead of YouTube this time, thinking your workplace might not be blocking it. Looks like it is. Sorry!

  11. This is so cute. I loved every second. Your animals are all so much fun to watch. That little storm came on into the Texas Panhandle yesterday and dumped snow here.

  12. I'm packin' my bags! (Hafta buy a swim suit, tho...)

  13. Oh, you captured the animals' distaste of the weather perfectly, the music was great with it. Helps me to look out at my icy ground and grin.

  14. Great video!Your writing and your wonderful animals have become a high spot in our day.Thank you so much for sharing with us.

  15. I LOVE little Willie poking her head out!

  16. Love this post, Linda! You're so creative! I must admit though it doesn't make me quite as homesick for NM as most scenery pics do! I'm stuck at home with a stomach virus today and will have to 2 big blocks to Wal-Mart to see some other meds tomorrow that my doctor's office just called about. At least I wouldn't have to truck through the snows for MILES to get it just through the Central Texas rain. I do love your place and admire your lifestyle (if not your snow). Belton Belle

  17. That was an EXCELLENT tour. Poor little critters. Deets is a dare-devil for sure, walking the rim of the water trough. It's amazing he doesn't fall in, the rascal.

(I can't wait!!!! Well, actually, I'm willing to wait until the snow is all gone. All. Gone.)

    Warm toasty hugs all 'round.

  18. I've linked this post to my Facebook page, so all my friends back east can see that New Mexico is not all sunshine every day. It might help to keep down the population...

    Brrr.

Loved it!!! Thanks for taking your camera out in the cold!

  20. I always admire Deets' balancing acts! We're still surrounded by snow, too. Emma wants out, but she won't stay out long. It's about 5 degrees now - the kind of day that, if I opened the door for her, she'd behave just like Smooch.

  21. Thanks for the tour. Smooch was the smart one, and I'm with Wynonna- don't disturb without gifts of a hot cuppa!

  22. The wind is roaring here and I have one of those ground blizzards going on...it's hard to remember what a beach feels like on these days; the woodstove is the closest I can come to that beach feeling.

An observation: I think that you have toes like Husband's. All the same shape, just in diminishing sizes. Me, I have "lower hands." :-P

  23. I don't blame Smooch for not going out. We had 4 inches with winds yesterday. Unfortunately, my two dogs love it and whine to go out and play. It's worse than having kids in snowsuits, they need a good towel dry when they come in. Hang in there it's almost spring!

  24. Great video! You know, I can almost psyche myself into believing that our 10" of snow is actually sand dunes. All we need now are palm trees, warm waves lapping at our toes, and some tropical drinks.
Noone believes me when I say this is typical New Mexico weather.

  25. Enjoyed the video even though I would rather be looking at a beach scene and hearing snow music. West Tn is getting it too and we don't get snow much and we really whine about it when we do. I did get to ride a horse yesterday so I have my memories.
Just wondering (I'm snowbound and bored) how did Deets become the outside cat and the others inside? Personally I would pick outside cat. Love your posts. I have gone back through most of them.

  26. Wow, brrrrr!!! And that wind making the snow swirl around like that. Dang, it's a balmy 50-something degrees here lately!
I just did a barn video this morning, too, only I'm not clever enough to add music! LOL

  27. Look coooooold out there! Everybody except Hank all snuggled up as best they can. I thought it was funny that Deets had to walk on the snow covered edge of the water trough to get to just the perfect spot. Does it taste better there?!

I live in Indiana where it's flat and I always say that the only thing stopping the winds from the frozen north is my neighbor's house. Your flat view to the mountains seems about like that and a bag of chips.

Loved the video -- it was so much fun. Thank you!

  28. Enbrace the snow! It's bright! It's white! As long as you don't have to drive anywhere, it's uplifting compared to the dreary browns and grays of winter without it. And after your work is done, you can cozy up in your warm house by the fire.

Thanks for letting all of us see all of you in action!

  29. I was holding my breath for Deets not to fall into that freezing cold water. But this really makes me wanna run around wrapping blankets around everyone - excerpt that little Wynona princess, who obviously is very well taken care of ... A blanket for Willy, please!

  30. So, once your fingers thaw out, would you like a margarita and some guacamole? That's what I'm serving on my mini-vacation at our house after I did my barn chores that looked amazingly like yours. That song works perfectly on my playlist along with some Jimmy Buffet and don't forget Weezer singing "Island in the Sun" --"We'll run away together, we'll spend some time forever, we'll never feel bad anymore..."

  31. Great video, well done! What kind of camera do you use? I've heard great things about the FLIP cameras.
It is fun to see the crew moving around, they are as fun in the video as they are in still life. I love that song too, reminds me of the movie Cocktail.
    Have a great (warmer?) weekend!

  32. Whew.... I finally got a chance to look at the video. Loved it, mean it. I bet Deets was wondering why the rail was so cold.. My advise, grab a good book and a cup of hot cocoa!

  33. I'm a day late and sometimes a dollar short but I loved this video, 7MSN! Your animals are so loved!

    Stay warm!

  34. I can't go a day without your blog, and I just LOVE your video!

  35. Brenda, here's a link to the post about Deets' arrival and his career as barn cat:

PonyGirl, I shot this video with my Nikon Coolpix S6 point and shoot, then edited it on the Mac in iMovie. I'm seriously considering one of those Flip things, though, hoping it's easier to use with frozen fingers.

  36. Love it! Smooch has the right idea staying inside!

  37. Looking at all that snow makes me long for Mismaloya Bay in Puerto Vallarta Mexico!
I think I'd be as miserable as the critters looking at all that snow day in and day out....How do you cope??? I'll try to send some sunshine your way!

  38. I so enjoyed this video - there's something extra special about seeing your animals in video rather than as photographs. They feel like dear friends, cause I've been checking in for quite a while now. Hope the weather is improving.
